Musical Perm. Organ Hall from the beginnings to our time

They say that everyone hears the walls, but they can not tell us in a language they understand us. But how many interesting stories could tell each building, house, cathedral. However, you can contact archivists and eyewitnesses who can tell a lot of stories about city buildings. One of them is about the organ that the Germans brought to Perm. Organ Hall also has its own no less interesting story.

Finding a building for an organ

In the late 70's the Perm Party Committee decided that the city needs an organ hall. At that time there was an unspoken competition between the cities. The neighbors were already in Chelyabinsk, Izhevsk and Sverdlovsk. It was only necessary to find the room for the instrument and order it. At first glance, the Ascension Church was the most suitable for this.

Acoustics in Russian churches were ideal. True, it was originally planned to be adapted to the museum of local lore, the opening of which was awaited by Perm. Organ Hall was more important for the city, and no one could cancel the decision of the City Committee. The restoration of the building began. The work was done tremendously: strengthening the foundation, repairing the facades, roofing, and overlapping. There were made improvements to the project in the form of additional rooms for changing rooms, a buffet and a hall for spectators, utility rooms.

The arrival of German specialists was expected for acquaintance with the acoustics of the building where the organ should be installed. But after a number of measurements in the building, the noise background exceeded the norm, which caused bewilderment among the German masters of organ affairs. They categorically refused to establish an organ in this church. All the city leaders were also confused. Where to place the organ and what to do with the restored temple? The way out, of course, was found. The Governor of Perm in 2001 decided that the Perm Regional Philharmonic is a place for the future organ with an organ hall in the building "B".

What did living witnesses tell about?

For those who are interested, why the acoustics of the church failed, the history has revealed the secret of the past. It was difficult in those days to oppose the decisions of the city party leadership. But to demolish the bells on the temple, which was supposed in the draft alteration, was somehow not human. Moreover, in perestroika times, churches began to be returned to church ministers. That's why the former head of the UCS and the head of the trolleybus-tram management organized a small "diversion". At a time when German masters began to make measurements of the urban noise, tramways loaded with metal plied by the periodicity of the Ascension Church. Naturally, thanks to them, the devices recorded that the noise was above normal. Thanks to this trick, Perm organ hall still got, and the now restored Theodosia temple works. Here is a story.

What is the Perm body

The main day for Perm was December 20, 2003. On this day the Perm Regional Philharmonic Society solemnly opened the halls of chamber and organ music. So the organ made by the firm "Glatter-Goetz" began its life.

The Perm body has forty registers, three handheld keyboards and one pedal (foot) computer that remembers the orchestrations that the organist creates at the rehearsals. Organ affairs of the master say that the uniqueness of the sound of the organ is not only in the unity of it and the building in which it is installed, but also the connection of the instrument with the musician. Composers of organ music are not allowed to specify in the work, how to use registers. On which of the forty registers an organist chooses for performance, the tonality and loudness of the organ's sound depends. Experience, taste, ability to use sound paints will affect his choice.

Development prospects

The unique acoustic capability of the organ hall attracts different performers to Perm. Organ Hall for 412 seats - the most popular and favorite place of citizens and visitors. There are musical masterpieces of world and Russian classics, chamber music, pianoforte, cello. The presence of the organ presupposed new perspectives in musical art. And a logical step to this was a "corporate" organ festival.

Festival of Organ Music

In 2005, the director of the Philharmonic Society was the organizer and inspirer of the International Festival of Organ Music "Organ +". The purpose of his conducting was acquaintance of Permians with performers of international level, holding traditional and avant-garde concerts. Many famous musicians of the planet saw the organ hall (Perm). The poster on the building of the philharmonic society constantly informs the inhabitants of the city about new concerts.

Festivals are held annually, but the palette of conducting musical evenings differs by its variety and richness of the repertoire, while the innovative idea of the festival is always new. The festival is creative by the synthesis of various kinds of art - choreography, painting, music, poetry.

Tickets can be purchased at the Philharmonic's ticket offices for concerts in the organ hall (Perm), address: Lenin, 51B. Or order through the official website.
