The principle of the absorption refrigerator

The absorption refrigerator got its name from the physical and chemical absorption process that occurs in it, namely, absorption of the gaseous mixture by the absorber of refrigerant vapors formed directly in the evaporator.

In such an aggregate, ammonia is used as a coolant, and an ammonia solution serves as an absorbent, i.e., an absorber. Also added to the system: sodium chromate to prevent corrosion on the surfaces of the tubes (external and internal) and hydrogen, which is necessary for balancing the pressure in the system itself.

The principle of operation of this refrigeration unit is the circulation and evaporation of the refrigerant. Ammonia solution through the tubes from the absorber gets into the generator, from which already saturated solution enters the dephlegmator, and there it decomposes into water and ammonia. In the condenser ammonia alcohol is liquefied and re-enters the evaporator, and pure water again enters the apparatus for absorbing gases.
