Museum of the World Ocean: photo, mode of operation

We are always excited and attracted by the unknown and beautiful. Especially mysterious in our imagination is the World Ocean. The museum, created in Kaliningrad, brought to life the dreams of thousands of people to see this magical world with their own eyes. And now everyone can not only look at the flora and fauna of the water space, but also visit historical ships, admire the architectural monuments, see the amber collection. This is not just a museum, but a complex, in which many historically valuable objects are represented.

History of occurrence

According to the documents, the Museum of the World Ocean was established in 1990, on April 12, after the adoption of the corresponding resolution by the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR. But only in 5 years the institution accepted the first visitors when on the ship "Vityaz", in 1994, who stood at the museum berth, equipped the exhibition grounds.

In full force the museum earned in 1996, when it celebrated the 300th anniversary of the Russian fleet.

In 2000, work began on the conservation and conservation of the remains of a sailing wooden ship of the XIX century, found in the quarry of the village of Yantarny.

In 2003, the construction of a central building with a conference hall was completed.

In 2006, major repairs were made to the port warehouse of pre-war construction, where the following year the exposition "Sea Königsberg-Kaliningrad" was opened. In the same, 2007, the museum was given the architectural monument of the 19th century - the Friedrichsburg Gate. Then the exhibition building "Pakgauz" was opened.

2009 was marked by the fact that the Museum of the World Ocean received a prize at the event "Intermuseum". After that the administration of the institution was transferred to a historical building in which the consulate of Belgium functioned for 60 years.

Particularly proud of the Museum of the World Ocean is a magnificent monument relating to the architecture of the XIX century - the "Royal Gates". Here the exposition "The Great Embassy" was placed.

Activities

The Museum of the World Ocean, whose photo is presented in the article, is of great importance for the science and culture of Russia. His mission is to form an integral worldview through acquaintance with the richest resource of the Earth - the ocean space, connecting continents and states. "Vityaz" - ship museum

On the quay of the embankment the largest research vessel "Vityaz" was moored. It is a single-screw two-deck motor ship, characterized by a straight inclined stem, sharply disintegrated nasal formations and cruising stern. The history of this vessel captures the Soviet, German and Russian periods. At different times it changed its name. In the years 1947-1949. The ship was converted into a research vessel and became part of the Academy of Sciences, having received its last name - "The Knight". He sailed for 30 years (since 1949), made a total of 65 scientific flights, having traveled more than 800,000 miles and having conducted 7,942 scientific works. From the side of the "Vityaz" the largest ocean depth (11 022 m) was measured, marked in the Mariana Trench. Thanks to the ship, a new kind of animal was discovered - Pogonophora. On board the ship, a school of Soviet oceanology was formed, while scientists from 50 scientific institutes of 20 states worked on expeditions.

"Vityaz" participated in the project of the International Geophysical Year, as well as in other major international programs. The vessel was honored in 49 countries and 100 ports. Notable guests of this ship were some presidents, prime ministers, honorable cultural figures, famous scientists, for example, Jacques-Yves Cousteau. The last visit of the "Knight" brought to Kaliningrad, and here for 11 years his fate remained uncertain. In 1992, taking into account the contribution of the vessel to the study of the World Ocean, it was decided to preserve it in the form of a museum. Two years later, after repair and restoration, the "Vityaz" moored at the Kaliningrad embankment.

B-413 - submarine museum

December 1997 was marked by an important event. Director of the Museum of the World Ocean S. Sivkova filed a petition to the Minister of Culture of Russia NL Dementieva to transfer the B-413 to the institution as an exhibit. She, in turn, officially addressed him to VS Chernomyrdin, who at that time was the chairman of the Russian government. On September 3, 1999, an order was issued, according to which the B-413 was withdrawn from the Navy, and then officially handed over to the Museum of the World Ocean. By 2000, it became available to visitors.

"Cosmonaut Victor Patsaev"

This research, scientific vessel Roskosmos, named after the famous cosmonaut, became a part of the Museum of the World Ocean in Kaliningrad in 2001. This ship of the Star Flotilla is the only one that survived the disbandment. Until 1994 the ship performed reception and description of telemetry data, provided radio communication of space vehicles with the Flight Control Center. To date, the ship provides an uninterrupted connection to the International Space Station. On its board there are various thematic excursions. Ship-museum SRT-129 and icebreaker "Krasin"

Trawler SRT-129 is included in the museum complex in 2007. It is a classic fishing boat, which was used for fishing in the sea. On the trawler there is a log cabin open for visiting, models of fishing vessels, here you can watch films about fishing.

Another famous vessel, which has the Museum of the World Ocean, is the ice-breaker Krasin. It is a branch of the institution, since it is located in St. Petersburg. The permanent place of the ship-museum is the embankment of Lieutenant Schmidt in the Northern capital.

Exhibition "World of the ocean. Touch…"

The Kaliningrad Museum of the World Ocean in the central building presented an exposition with this name. It includes modern aquariums, the most magnificent collections of shells, marine life, mollusks, beautiful corals related to geological and paleontological specimens, as well as the largest skeleton in Russia belonging to the sperm whale.

Aquariums are made of special extra-strong glass. Some of them get so high that they almost reach the ceiling. Inside the aquariums live marine life - it's both rare and popular specimens. Here you can see large predators, mysterious underwater fish and animals that have a bright color and unusual appearance. Before your eyes almost the whole World Ocean will appear.

The museum also presented at this exhibition the most valuable exhibits: furniture belonging to Admiral SO Makarov, personal belongings, documents, archives of Russian cosmonauts and ocean scientists.

Amber collection

Particular possession of the museum complex is a magnificent collection of amber, which began to form since 1993. In 2001, on board the "Vityaz" was equipped with a magnificent exposition - the amber cabin. The collection was annually replenished with special exhibits, the largest and most unusual stones, mostly mined in the Baltic Sea. By 2008, there were 3,414 items of these unparalleled, original exhibits in the exposition. The largest specimen of amber weighs 1208 grams.
