Military correspondents are people with a strong character, after all, not everyone can participate in hostilities. About six thousand correspondents are graduated from higher educational institutions once a year, but not everybody is getting the status of a military one.

Primary requirements

Of course, it is not so important what kind of sphere of activity is interesting to the future specialist, because the main thing is to give people truthful and up-to-date information. But it is also necessary to remember the simple rules of ethics and respect and to abide by the law. After all, they know perfectly well that any lie will incur various problems and scandals, therefore for all information they bear personal responsibility.

People who still decide to engage in this complex profession should always have a certificate from the editorial office or the head of the organization they work for. The certificate must be issued in accordance with the rules and the law. Military correspondents, while in combat points, must observe a number of rules and requirements. Upon arrival at the place of his work, this person must first find the commander-in-chief and submit all the required documents. After that, he will be given permission to stay in a hot spot or army. He must comply with all established rules. If it is necessary to collect information in the army or military unit, then it is necessary to obtain permission from the commanding staff. If there is no such document, the correspondent must leave.

Requirements for correspondents

A military correspondent can leave the army, military unit or the place of military operations, having informed the chief of staff about it, and to leave by the way that he will be indicated. The main requirement and duty is to carry a certificate, which must be presented at the first request. When the collected material is published or printed, the correspondent is prohibited from publishing the one that is a military secret, as well as openly criticizing the military authorities. In any case, unverified and unconfirmed information is not allowed to be published. After the end of the collection of material and departure, the media employee is obliged to report the end of the journalistic investigation. If any of the above requirements are violated, then it is subject to removal from the army, military unit or zone of operations. In this case, all expenses for the road should be paid by the correspondent himself. It is permitted to shoot under the same conditions and rules.

Defense of military correspondents

All photos of the military correspondents are freely available, as a result of which they can be endangered. But still they are under the protection of the law. During armed actions, any media representative has the right to the same protection as a civilian. As you know, any correspondent who is at the militant point can be taken into custody. But only a military correspondent can get the status of a prisoner of war. The privileges of this profession include the possibility of escorting the armed forces, if necessary. Many may think that if other media workers are captured by the enemy, they will not be given any protection. But this is not so. On the part of the law, they also have protection. If any representative of the press is captured to the opposite side of the conflict, then the law prohibits him from committing any unlawful actions, encroaching on health and life, and also providing guarantees in fair trial. Of course, the profession of a correspondent can be called fascinating and interesting, but do not forget about the danger and tension.
