Snob is a philistine, an aristocrat

Have you ever been near a person who speaks through clenched teeth, to any of your cues only condescendingly smiles and looks past, not even honoring you with a glance? Is not it true that it seemed to you then that this person has every right to behave this way - after all, he is some kind of elected (perhaps even your boss). If yes, then next to you was a snob. We will try to understand the meaning of the word now.

Snob is, according to the book concepts, a person who believes himself to be Attention: himself, not others) a carrier of high taste and intelligence. He with all his appearance, behavior and manner diligently advertises his "chosenness", "feature". Arrogance, and simply, swagger - that's the hallmark of a snob. The rejection of everyone and everything that does not fit into them personally set limits, as a rule, helps these people to keep a "distance" and thus to separate themselves from others.

Why is this necessary? Probably, the snob understands aristocracy, intelligence, or, as they say, God's choice. To such people, he for some reason can not consider himself, therefore he builds around the atmosphere of a feature that will replace him unattainable.

But the most interesting is that, despite its tricks in exaltation, the snob is the same philistine. What can you give a lot of evidence.

Snob, like a man in the street, does not live by his own mind. The only difference between them is that a man in the street has quite different views and attitudes, and the snob is only those that distinguish him from the general mass. Without a sample to be imitated, it is not possible. For people of this type, what is important is not what fills the notion of aristocracy, but only how it manifests itself. Manners, conventions are more important here than notions of honor, duty, and often even morality.

The commoner and snob are always confident in their rightness. This happens because they adhere to common attitudes. True, the philistine - common with everyone, but a snob - common with them elected. This unshakable confidence is also based on the fact that they do not really need the truth. They are satisfied with their ideas about it.

The philistine can be arrogant, like a snob. But he mockingly refers to those who do not want to be like everyone, goes beyond the framework of established ideas. But the swagger with which a snob lives is an opportunity to prove to others around his chosenness, belonging to the "highest" in the snobbish terms of the circle.

The philistine is afraid to seem ridiculous or ridiculous. For him, great importance is the opinion of others. Snob most fears not to "be accepted," to deserve the contempt of those whom he diligently imitates, into whose "clip" he tries to get.

It's funny, but the man in the street also likes to use the word "elite", giving children to elite schools, resting at elite resorts and buying elite goods. Snob is an elite to itself. But in all other respects he has not far gone from the average inhabitant, despite all his superficial refinement.

Therefore, the meaning of the word snob can not be fully revealed without a deep understanding of how much these people are poor internally, dependent on the environment and frightened in the soul. After all, it is this that forces them to climb out of the skin, proving that they are special and that they can do what is not possible for everyone else.
