Ethnos is the guardian of antiquities

In the literature, the designations of an ethnos, a nation, and civilization are often confused. Terminology and concepts on this part are theoretically little worked out. There are several types of notation for the human community. But most converge in one thing : an ethnos is a collective with a common and carefully kept from generation to a generation myth about one's own origin. To make it easier to use the system of concepts, it is necessary to expand the terms "local civilization", "people", "nation", "ethnos". It will take a little culturological analysis. Ethnos - the group is the smallest in number. Such associations, and various, can enter the nation. Several last groups unite the concept of "people". Types of Ethnicities

Ethnos - is primarily a community of people, based on blood ties, that is, the genus. Thus, in early communal times primitive people gathered in tribes. Of these ties the nationality was gradually formed. Further on purely geographical sign with the development of civilizational factors, nations were formed. The most directly leading road to this union can be identified as a demographic one, when marriages are concluded within a separate group for so long that genetics succeeds in fixing not only external similarity, but also many character traits. And when both physical appearance and customs are common, the group can reasonably be called an ethnos. Here self-awareness is strong, self-identification, and the most important role is played by a clear separation of others from their own. The cultural core of such a community is a common territory, collective holidays, legends and myths, language, customs, the whole way of life.

Memory of Generations

Information must be continuously and continuously broadcast from senior to junior, continuity is strengthened by ties, only this will ensure the stability of the ethnic system. Otherwise, the community disintegrates. So, the ethnos is first of all biological kinship (endogamy), rituals and holidays as a cultural means of rallying, a single language, the same way of life and economy, political unanimity.

Demographic Material, or Three Kinds of Identity

Any political formations rely on the ethnos, linking roles and linking all the institutions of society. From the simplest political form - the tribe - the most complex state grows, where the ethnos is a small part of the community, which we call the "people". The latter is above state roles and estates, it is all-inclusive. It can be united as a religion (Orthodox people or Orthodox), as well as secular culture. A nation as such, bound by common traditions and customs or by a general political movement, is only one of those forms that are designated by the term "people". Here, a common history and a single national culture are important . The main thing is to understand that ethnos, people (nation) and civilization are phenomena defined in different layers of society development.
