Mikhail Porfirievich Georgadze is secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. A short excursion into the biography.

Mikhail Porfirievich Georgadze is a famous Soviet party leader. He was born on February 28 (in a new style on March 12) in 1912 in Central Georgia, in the small town of Chiatura. At that time this part of Transcaucasia was a part of the Russian Empire. In history he first of all entered as one of the leaders of the Communist Party. For 26 years, Mikhail Georgadze - Secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (from 1957 to 1982).

The man who was born before the revolution, survived the Civil and Domestic Wars, important historical milestones of the country's development, the change of rulers from Stalin to Brezhnev - throughout his life he held high and responsible state posts, received government awards, and was repeatedly a deputy of party congresses.

Originally from Imeretia

The town of Chiatura is located in the foothill of Imeretia, the central part of the then Tiflis province.

There were mines here, where manganese was mined. Chiatur miners were almost the only proletariat of Georgia. The city became the mainstay of the Bolshevik party.

Probably, the birthplace of the future communist leader played an important role in the development of his party career. In the spring of 1956, rallies were held in Gori, Tbilisi and Sukhumi in defense of the "bright" name of Joseph Stalin. They were caused by the report of NS. Khrushchev at a private meeting dedicated to exposing the "cult of personality."

Several hundred thousand people were aggressive, demanding that the head of the government of the republic speak to the people. Comrade Mzhanavadze arrived on the square, talked for a long time, promising to support the people and not to give Stalin insult. Moscow period

In the historical chronicles of Igor Bunich there is a list of the riches found in the caches of the Georgadze dacha: whole piles of jewelry, diamonds and diamonds, 100 gold bars (20 kg each), 2 million dollars and 40 million rubles, valuable paintings by famous artists, among them Canvas by Leonardo da Vinci.

The investigators were most surprised by the toilet bowls found in the house, made of the highest grade gold.

Leaving a life

In 1982, on November 23, Georgadze committed suicide. The secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR passed away before the end of the investigation. He was 70 years old.

Soon his widow, Tatyana Ivanovna Georgadze, hastily left for Tbilisi.
