Metro "Baumanskaya" - an important station of a huge city
Metro "Baumanskaya" is one of the oldest and deepest stations of the Moscow metro. Favorable location makes it one of the most in demand in the city. It is hard to imagine that there are up to 78 thousand people here every day.
Section 1. Metro "Baumanskaya". General information and history
Its history dates back to January 18, 1944. Educated people of our country can immediately answer that the name of the object was received not by chance, but NE Bauman was long considered a famous figure in the Bolshevik Party.
Although it should be noted that Baumanskaya had design names: Spartakovskaya and Razgulay. However, for unknown reasons, they were never approved.
The time of the former political heroes is gone, and in 1992 the question arose about renaming the station at Yelokhovo. This name bore the cultural and historical district of the main city of Russia. However, the plans to rename were frozen at first, and after a while they were completely considered inexpedient.
In accordance with the type of construction, the station is considered deep and laid in a thickness of 32.5 m. But the diameter of the halls is quite standard: the length of the side rooms is 8.5 m, and the central one is 9.5 m.
Section 2. Metro "Baumanskaya". How it looks from the inside
In the central hall on the end wall there is a portrait of Lenin executed by a mosaic. Initially, you could see Stalin, but after exposing the personality cult, he had to be removed for political reasons.
The architects managed to decorate the halls very well: the lamps arranged in 4 rows were placed under the arches and hidden directly under the pylons.
It is impossible to discern here, and usually disfiguring the interior ventilation holes: they were hidden under bronze and marble bars.
Over the travel walls also had to work carefully and as a result, according to the project, they were faced with gray and black marble. The floor in the subway "Baumanskaya" alternately laid out with black, gray and red granite slabs.
At the entrance of passengers meets the work of sculptor A. P. Shlykov, bust of NE Bauman. Interesting and the entrance to the escalators - here you can see the panel of the artist IM Rabinovich called "Glory to the Soviet Army."
The lobby is quite spacious and in it, besides the traditional ticket offices, there is also a small pharmacy, as well as a kiosk, where you can buy tickets for all performances of Moscow during the whole working day.
Section 3. Metro "Baumanskaya". What you can see in the vicinity
First of all, it is, of course, the Cathedral of the Epiphany relating to the 17th century. Why is it so popular that there are more ancient buildings on the territory of the city? The thing is that it was here that Pushkin was once christened.
As already mentioned above, the current station is located on the territory of the former village of Elokhovo. Few people know that this modest place is considered a small homeland of St. Basil the Blessed.
Often students aspire to this station, both former and current, and even future ones. The main building of the leading technological university. Bauman is just a few steps away.
