Memorial complexes: description

This article is written for the purpose of acquaintance with some memorial complexes located on the territory of our country and beyond.

What is a memorial complex?

As a rule, we are talking about parks with certain demarcation lines and a clear planning. There are often large parterres and wide alleys. In addition, the monument (memorial complex) is surrounded by numerous green plantations and trees, preferably with a weeping or pyramidal crown.

Memorial complexes are a kind of territory with monumental architectural structures, such as:

  1. Pantheons.
  2. Sculptural groups.
  3. Mausoleums.
  4. Monuments.
  5. Obelisk and others.

All these above mentioned monuments are dedicated to outstanding historical events from the history of the state and the people inhabiting it.

Eternal flame

One of the most outstanding sights of Nizhny Novgorod is the memorial complex "Eternal Fire". It is located on the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. This monumental ensemble was founded in 1965, then the settlement was called Gorky. The monument is dedicated to military exploits and merits of heroes of the Second World War. This place is of great importance for the residents of the city, because a lot of people folded their heads for a peaceful sky for their children and great-grandchildren. On May 9, 1970, a T-134 tank was installed on the territory of the memorial. In 1980, an honor guard was formed near him, consisting of schoolchildren.

In the center of the monumental ensemble is the Eternal Flame. The memorial complex itself consists of two black steles. Near the first, whose height does not exceed one and a half meters, there are many gilt wreaths. This is a kind of symbol of the missing soldiers. The second stela depicts two fighters. Also on it are written the dates of the beginning and end of the war. Behind there is an inscription about the glory of the Gorkyites, who died in the battles for the independence and freedom of our Motherland.

The opening of the first Eternal Flame

The ever-burning Eternal Flame symbolizes the memory of some significant event or person. Continuous flame combustion is maintained by supplying gas to a specific location. Very often the Eternal Flame enters memorial complexes, it is practically a permanent neighbor of this monumental structure.

The first such complex with the Eternal Flame was an architectural monument built under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris (France) in 1921. This is one of the first memorials dedicated to soldiers who fell in battle.

Memorial complex of Glory

It was opened on the eve of the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the war - May 8, 2010. This is the largest construction of this kind in the North Caucasus. It is located in the center of Grozny. The construction of the monument took about 6 months.

The famous building occupies more than 5 hectares of area. At the entrance to the memorial is a monument to the former commander, the hero of the Soviet Union, Movlid Visaitov. The monument is quadrangular and consists of 2 levels. The first underground one is the museum of the first president of the Chechen Republic A. Kadyrov. The upper level, which has a memorial complex, are various retrospectives with images, revealing key episodes of the Second World War. In the same part there are portrait bas-reliefs of forty heroes of the Great Patriotic War, as well as people of different nationalities who lived in the republic at that time.

The top level is crowned with a huge glass dome. Over the central part of the memorial there is a gilded spire 40 meters high. It is stylized as a military medieval tower of the Chechens. Along the entire perimeter of the architectural ensemble is a park - Alley of Glory. There are forty memorial plates. They wrote the names of the residents of Chechnya, who participated in the Great Patriotic War.

On the highest tier of the structure is the Eternal Flame, which burns in memory of the heroes who defended the independence and freedom of our Motherland. In solemn dates the memorial complex will be able to visit and honor the memory of heroes at the same time more than 15 thousand people. The monument is equipped with two television screens, on which various videos are broadcast. Unfortunately, not all memorial complexes are so large.

The largest memorial complexes dedicated to WWII

The largest cultural objects of our country, dedicated to the Second World War in memory of the victory of the Soviet people over fascist Germany:

  1. Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd.
  2. Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow.
  3. Memorial complex of Glory named after A. Kadyrov in Grozny.

Do you need memorial complexes and monuments in our time? Modern youth are less and less interested in stories. Nevertheless, the present generation should not forget about significant dates, heroes and various exploits committed in the name of peace on the whole earth. It is the memorials with the Eternal Flame that will remind us of this.
