Medicinal preparation "Lugol" (spray): instructions for use

Spray for topical application "Lugol" in its composition contains free iodine, potassium iodide, glycerin and water. And since iodine has an antimicrobial effect, this drug is widely used for infectious and inflammatory lesions of the skin and mucous membranes (chronic tonsillitis, atrophic rhinitis, purulent otitis).

Nevertheless, the drug "Lugol" also has an anti-inflammatory, disinfecting property, so the range of its use is much broader. It is applied either externally, topically, or inside.

In the treatment of myalgia, various wounds and injuries, as well as infectious inflammatory skin lesions, it is applied externally. Spray "Lugol" treats damaged and inflamed skin.

For topical application, it is prescribed for trophic and varicose ulcers, infected, thermal and various chemical burns of I and II degrees. Doctors advise to use "Lugol" (spray) in angina for washing supratonsillar spaces and lacunae. The following treatment regimen is recommended: 4-5 procedures with an interval of 2-3 days. The drug is incompatible with solutions of ammonia and essential oils. The presence of blood, pus, fat, alkaline and acidic medium weaken its properties as an antiseptic. And interaction with lithium drugs weakens their strugogenic and hypothyroid effect.

For a long time doctors have been using the drug "Lugol" (spray) for children. The instruction advises to treat this medicine with children's tonsillitis and other diseases of the mucous pharynx and oral cavity.

Specific taste of the drug "Lugol" when lubricating the throat in children sometimes causes an emetic effect, so the use of the spray greatly simplified the procedure of treatment. As many parents say, the advantage of this medication was the effectiveness of the application, the simplicity of dosage, the economical expenditure and the small price, and the problem of the secondary emetic effect was resolved.
