Marinated mussels: a recipe for every taste

Seafood is very popular all over the world. True, in our country the demand for them has increased only in recent years. But if earlier exotic seafood was a rarity, now they are quite often found on the shelves of food stores. Some of the representatives of such products are mussels. These invertebrate mollusks go on sale, usually frozen. Nevertheless, in recent years, more often in the stores began to appear pickled mussels. The recipe, according to which they are prepared, depends on the manufacturer. But it turns out that such a delicacy can be done without any special difficulty at home, choosing the suitable option for yourself. For example, we can consider several rather interesting ways.

As easy as pie

Those who first decided to try to make pickled mussels, it is better to choose a recipe, based on the availability of basic ingredients. Do not replace these or other products yourself, as the result may not justify the expectations. It is better to act for sure, to make really delicious pickled mussels.

The recipe for the simplest version requires the following components on the desktop: 500 grams of mussels, 2 cloves of garlic, sugar, 1 lemon, salt, 2 onions, a bunch of parsley, paprika, black pepper peas, 50 milliliters of vegetable oil and several coriander grains.

After everything is ready, you can start to act:

  1. If the mussels are frozen, then the first thing they should be thrown into boiling water for a few minutes. After cooling from the surface of mollusks, a characteristic build-up should be removed, through which they are fastened inside the shell.
  2. Cut the onions into thin half rings, sprinkle with salt, sugar and sprinkle with fresh lemon juice.
  3. Connect products in a separate container.
  4. Add chopped parsley.
  5. Coriander grind in a mortar with pepper, and then, adding paprika, turn the contents into a homogeneous mixture.
  6. Add the fragrant mass to the mussels along with the rest of the ingredients.
  7. Put the container in the refrigerator.

In 30 minutes, tender mussels will be ready for pickled. The recipe is quite simple and does not require any special culinary preparation.

Additional processing

Sometimes, for greater confidence that the product is really ready for consumption, the mollusks can be subjected to additional pretreatment. In this case, you should use another, no less interesting way, in order to marinate mussels. The recipe is somewhat similar to the previous one.

For the three meals, you need to prepare the following foods: 350 grams of frozen mussels, a teaspoon of salt, 6 black peppercorns, 15 grams of vinegar, 1 bay leaf, 100 grams of sugar, 150 milliliters of boiling water and 30 grams of vegetable oil.

This method involves the following steps:

  1. First, the shellfish should be put in a pot of water and put it on the fire. Mussels should be slightly welded, adding salt and bay leaf. After 5 minutes, the broth should be drained, and the shellfish should be folded into a separate clean pan.
  2. To prepare the marinade, you should boil the vinegar, sugar, pepper and salt in boiling water.
  3. The resulting hot solution to pour boiled mussels.
  4. Add oil and mix well.

In a couple of hours the mussels can be boldly eaten or used for cooking other dishes.

Worthy alternative

How else can you make marinated mussels? Recipes of cooking, in principle, are very similar to each other. The difference consists only in the recruitment and quantitative composition of the initial components for the marinade.

Take, for example, an option for which such products are required: 300 grams of frozen shellfish ½ cup of white wine, bay leaves, chives and a few black peppercorns.

For marinade: 35 grams of vegetable oil, salt, 1 teaspoon coriander, honey and mustard, as well as dill and pepper.

In this case it is required:

  1. The first step is to unfreeze the main product and clean it of the garbage inside.
  2. In the saucepan pour the wine, and then add to it pepper, garlic and bay leaf.
  3. Then put the prepared mussels and cook them for 3 minutes after the mixture boils.
  4. From the products prescribed by the recipe, prepare a marinade.
  5. Pour them still warm clams and leave them in this position for 3 hours.

Thanks to the unusual filling of the mussels, they acquire a pleasant taste and a delicate, spicy aroma.

Oriental style dish

There are a huge number of options with which you can make delicious marinated mussels. The recipe with the photo in this case is convenient to use to see how the products should look at each stage of the process.

For example, in the eastern kitchen a method is often used for which it is necessary to have 200 grams of mussels, 2 cloves of garlic, a teaspoon of lemon juice, 80 milliliters of soy sauce and 10 grams of ginger.

The whole process takes place in three stages:

  1. First, the shellfish should be thawed (if required) and cleaned. Then they should be boiled for 6-7 minutes in salt water, and then transferred to a plate for cooling.
  2. From components on the recipe to prepare a marinade. For a smell it is possible to put still a twig of greens.
  3. Pour the resulting solution of mussels and leave them for at least 2 hours. This time will be enough to make the shellfish absorb all the flavors.

After that, the products can be safely laid out on a plate and served as an original snack.
