Political preferences are a matter of choice for everyone.

"Politics is like a sphinx of myths, it eats everyone who can not solve her riddles" - this quotation of the French writer A. Rivarol emphasizes the importance of political views and beliefs in choosing the further development of the whole society and the individual as a part of it.

Mechanisms of formation of ideologies

Political preferences, like every person, are strictly individual, but one can not say how many people, so many preferences. This is only partly true. Indeed, many groups of people converge in their views on various aspects of the structure of the social system. Of course, there are differences. Sometimes they are quite significant, at times minimal, but with all this one can single out the fundamental identity of points of view. It is on this basis of people that this or that ideology unites. For its long history, mankind has developed a variety of socio-political concepts, from utopianism to calculating pragmatism. Changes in consciousness in different periods of historical development caused various political projects, and each of them had their own supporters. Political preferences depend on the origin, social status, level of education. Important role played by age and habit, as well as established in society traditions.

Socio-liberal ideologies

Modern political ideologies can be conditionally divided into left, right and so-called center. Let us consider them in more detail.

So, the left (socialism, communism) - the main base of these trends are the poorest sections of the population, as well as supporters of absolute social equality. In many ways, communism is similar to utopian ideas of the Enlightenment.

Centre. In their midst, we can single out the Social Democrats, whose views (that is, political preferences) are moderate. These are kind of liberals among the socialists. It is this ideology that the Swedish government has armed itself with and demonstrates the full validity of this trend, in contrast to communism.

Right (liberals, conservatives, national fascists). Liberal doctrine also has many supporters; Its bearers are the middle strata of society, successful businessmen and some of the civil servants. Also, liberals on views are often teachers and other intellectuals. This system of values places at the forefront the rights and freedoms of the individual, individualism. It is used by many European states and demonstrates full viability.

Conservative-nationalist ideologies

Types of political preferences include also the concept of conservatism and various types of nationalism. The basic principles of the first include stability, traditionalism, order and natural inequality. Supporters of this ideology are, as a rule, large and rich industrialists, the top of the church dignitaries, in other cases - some part of the generals and officers. The main idea is collectivism and family values.

Political preferences of nationalists can be divided into two groups:

1. Patriotic, when the country seeks to free itself from foreign domination, say, colonial wars.

2. National Fascism - enjoys the greatest influence during times of economic and political instability. Racism, violence, complete submission are the basic principles of Nazism.

Political preferences can also be depicted by another scale:

  • Democratic (they include liberals, partly conservatives, partly socialists);
  • Authoritarian (conservatives, socialists, monarchists);
  • Totalitarian (communism and fascism).

In conclusion, I would like to note: despite such a vast classification, absolutely all political views, beliefs and preferences are determined by political psychology, that is, feelings, emotions, moods and other elements of consciousness.
