Kukryniksy group: biography and discography

The Kukryniksy group is a well-known Russian rock band, the permanent leader and founder of which is Alexei Yuryevich Gorshenev. He is also Yagoda, a nickname he himself coined, which means: "I am Gorshenev." He is the younger brother of Mikhail Gorshenev, the leader of the band "The King and the Jester".

Where did the name "Kukryniksy" come from?

As the name of the group was used pseudonym of a trio of Soviet cartoon artists. They consisted of: Mikhail Kupriyanov, Krylov Porfiry and Nikolai Sokolov. Actually, according to the first syllables of the surnames of two members of the trio and the name of the third one, a common pseudonym was created. This group of artists is known for its topical, sarcastic, satirical and patriotic caricatures.

Participants in the same rock band claim that the name appeared by chance, just emerged as a nickname for a satirical attitude to what is happening and to life in general. In the history of the collective, written by the leader and founder of the Kukryniksy Alexei Gorshenev, it is said that he invented the name himself and that now he would not risk it. The name appeared as a temporary one, but it caught on and consolidated in the group. And the group itself took a worthy place on the domestic rock scene. By the way, during the recording of the second album, Alex insisted on changing the name to the version of "Natura", but the members of the collective dissuaded him. And now it would be difficult to imagine this group with a different name.

Kukryniksy group: style, direction

The musical style of the band has been transformed over time, but always fit into the framework of rock music. At the beginning of its existence the band played in the style of punk rock, which can be clearly heard on their first albums. Later the rock group "Kukryniksy" moved somewhat away from this style. In subsequent musical albums, the influence of post-punk is still traced.

The first appearance on the stage

The first concert of the Kukryniksy group took place on May 28, 1997 in the cult club "Polygon", which has already been closed. Actually, from this significant date there is an official countdown of the time of the existence of the musical collective. Already at this very first real concert, the band was interested in representatives of the recording company Manchester Files. It takes about a year, and the band has the first album, which, according to the old tradition, started by foreign rockers, was named after the group. The album contained only 12 songs. Two of them immediately gained popularity - this is "Soldier's Sorrow" and "It's not a problem", which to this day are the musical "visiting cards" of the group. In the recording of the album participated: the soloist of the group "Kukryniksy" Alexei Gorshenev; Alexander "Renegat" Leontiev (later left the band and joined the group "King and Jester", where he was until January 1, 2014, now his group is called the "Northern Fleet"); Dmitry Gusev and Maxim Voitov (moved to the group "Cartoons").

Participation in the "Kinoprobes"

The year 2000 was marked for the group by participation in "Kinoprobakh" - tribute of the "Kino" group. It was performed and recorded two songs by Victor Tsoi: "Soon the summer will end" and "Sadness". Initially, when the project was planned as "Kinoproby 45", ie only the songs from the album "45", "Kukryniksy" (the group's composition at that time was the same) were planning to take the song "Bezdelnik". But when the choice expanded, then other songs were chosen. Alexei notes that he himself is a "movie fan" and knows all the songs well, but they are more suitable for their group in style and mood.

"Invasion"

The most important event in the group's history is the band's first appearance at the legendary rock festival "Invasion" in 2001 in Ramenskoye. For a young band just beginning to climb to the musical peaks, it was a serious breakthrough. Since 2001, the band has been participating in the festival regularly, except for the concerts of 2009 and 2010.

Popularity

Quickly and confidently, the Kukryniksy group wins the audience, there are more and more fans waiting for new albums. In 2002, the world saw the second album "Kukryniksy" titled "The Painted Soul", which the fans were eagerly awaiting. The basis of the album is guitar music, which is an exceptional feature of this record. "Guitar Rock" Kukryniksov "was rapidly gaining momentum. The second album was recorded in a slightly different composition than the first one. Maxim Voitov and Renegat (Alexander Leontiev) appear in the album exclusively in bonus tracks, which are taken from previously recorded material. The composition of the group is replenished by Dmitry Ohanyan, Viktor Bastrakov, who leaves the group soon, and Ilya Levakov (also in the future will leave the band).

The clip "The Painted Soul" was shot on the title track of the album. This clip becomes the second in the history of Kukryniksy. The first was created for the song "It's not a problem". Both clips are gaining success with the fans of the band.

Third album

In 2003, the third album of the band was recorded. In the same year, the musicians plan to release it. In 2003, the collective exhibits an official congratulation on the New Year from the whole group of Kukryniksy (the site of the group contains it). On it, the soloist Alexei says that the team hopes to release the album "Collision" in the new year. But the record is delayed. And the record goes on sale only in the spring of 2004. In this album, the band gets a fundamentally new sound that members of the band have been looking for for so long. The instrumental track "Time" appears. This is completely new to the group, there was no such experience before on the albums or on the stage.

It is after recording this material that the band becomes a real musical family, the composition of the collective does not change until 2008. Participants of the group: Alexei Gorshenev (vocals, author of texts, rhythm guitar), Dmitry Gusev (guitar, music), Dmitry Ohanyan (bass guitar, back vocals), Roman Nikolayev (drummer), Stanislav Mayorov (sound, programming).

Presentation of the plate

After the official release of the album in St. Petersburg on May 15, 2004 in the club "Old House" is his presentation. This concert was recorded on numerous video cameras of the club, and after the appropriate installation in the fall of 2004, the DVD "Collision Live" appears. This CD contains the record of the concert-presentation album, 3 clips of Kukryniksy, plus the clip "Pops" of the project "Rock Band", in which musicians participated.

On the song "Know" from the new album a clip was filmed. He was filming in the Leningrad region. This clip does not receive widespread popularity on domestic television, much to the dismay of the Kukryniksy group.

New album

Further, the musicians are actively working on the material for the next album "The Favorite of the Sun". This album was released on November 25, 2004. The album includes 11 tracks, including an instrumental composition and a song on Yesenin's verses. The album is recorded at the studio "DDT".

In fact, at the studio the Kukryniksy group records only the vocal and bass, and all the rest is written at home. For them, it becomes a kind of tradition.

At the end of November, full of events, 2004, the band takes part in the recording of the New Year's project "The shallow light 2", where he sings the song "Wedding" by Muslim Magomayev together with the pop singer Alena Apina.

Could be in the movie ...

In 2005, the famous director Fyodor Bondarchuk suggests Alexei Gorshenev to write a soundtrack for his new work. Alexei accepts the offer, and in a short time, the song "9 companies" appears. It was planned that it will be used for the credits of the film, but, unfortunately, it never entered the film. But the song actively takes a position on "Our Radio" and gets its listeners. And Bondarchuk in debt does not remain and provides the group with materials "9 companies" to create a new video for the song "Star". The clip is gaining wide popularity on music channels and even takes first place in SMS voting on MTV channel.

"Shaman"

April 2006 was marked by the appearance of another album - "Shaman". The album contains 12 musical compositions, including the song "Phoenix", which was written by Dmitry Ohanyan, he also performed in the album.

In 2010, the group responds to the offer to take part in the musical project "Sol". As part of the project, the band records the song "Black Crow", which is included in the track list of the new disc of the band "Riders of the World".

In September 2010, a new project of the group is being released together with American singer Stephanie Starr, which is called K Republic. Within the framework of the project, an album was released, which in English is called "Everything I've Left Behind". On March 30, 2012 the album Myself appears.

The songs of the Kukryniksy group are close and understandable not only to connoisseurs of rock music, so the collective can be safely called one of the most outstanding on the Russian stage.
