Going camping: choosing a tent

The choice of the tent depends on which area you are going to camping, for how long and at what time of the year. For example, some online stores offer samples that are designed to live in extreme conditions. Such products with a small weight (up to 6 kg) can accommodate 2-3 people, have an internal tent, withstand snow load, rain, have a waterproof bottom. The arches for this type of tent are made of high-quality, lightweight aluminum with a diameter of about 1 cm. The outer part has a length of 4.2 meters and the inner part has a length of 2.25 meters with a width of 2 meters, which makes it possible to distinguish a small "tambour". The seams in such a specimen are also distinguished by their increased strength, for which they are additionally glued. The tent has a grid of mosquitoes, external and internal windows, hanging shelves for luggage and personal belongings. With such easy equipment you can climb mountains. Cheaper samples can have, for example, fiberglass arcs that do not tolerate temperature changes, so they are not suitable for mountain conditions.

When selecting camping equipment, the choice of tent is determined by the fact that people will live in it for a few days, and the environment will not be extreme. Samples with high ceilings, several compartments, large windows are appropriate here. Well, if there is a "vestibule". Such tents are transported by car, because their weight can reach 10-15 kilograms. Between these two "extremes" are expedition tents that are similar to extreme, but have a large area and average weight, as well as tracking samples that are used only in equipped parking lots.

The choice of a tent is also made taking into account the type of tent it is installed on and what the frame is. The field equipment can be with a frame in the form of a hemisphere or half-shell, where the first option is more resistant to wind, and the second gives a greater height. In addition, there are frameless options that are attached between the stands or trees on the braces.

The tent can be single-layer or double-layered. The first have ease and at the same time poor thermal insulation, as they are made only from waterproof material. The two-layer tent additionally has an inner layer that conserves heat. Experienced tourists recommend paying attention to the fact that between the layers there was a gap of at least two centimeters. In its absence, there is a high probability of penetration into the internal space of water during precipitation.

Tents for tourism are divided into several types depending on the time of year in which they are planning to use. There is all-season equipment (often it includes an element such as a "snow skirt"), tents intended for use from spring to autumn, have, for example, a ventilation system, but do not save from the cold. The choice of tent should be carried out necessarily taking into account this factor, since it depends not only on comfort, but also on the safety of living.
