Kronstadt Marine Plant - with confidence in the future

Kronstadt Marine Plant of the Ministry of Defense of Russia is the largest ship repair enterprise of the North-West region of the Russian Federation. Among the main activities - ship maintenance, repair of gas turbines, diesel engines, metal processing, corrosion protection of metal structures.

Description

All the activities of the Kronstadt marine plant are inextricably linked with the navy. For more than 150 years of history, he gave new life to thousands of ships. Founded in 1858 as a steamship production plant, the plant has become a leading center for the reconstruction and modernization of ships for various purposes. Until the beginning of the 1990s the enterprise enjoyed the deserved authority of the flagship of the domestic ship repair. Then came the period of recession.

As Anatoly Vladimirovich Beloev, director of the Kronstadt marine plant, noted, in the early 2000s the enterprise fevered. Bankruptcy proceedings began, and since 2008, the CMM's business activities have been suspended and resumed only in 2010 with the direct participation and support of the United Shipbuilding Corporation. Before the new management tasks are set to restore production, to carry out the corporatization of production and its entry into the structure of JSC "USC". By 2016, these goals have been successfully achieved.

Field of activity

The Kronstadt Marine Plant has three main activities:

  • Ship repair;
  • Repair of gas turbine engines;
  • Metal working.

Maintenance of gas turbines

The share of gas turbine production in the total volume of work is about 25%. This direction was established in the Kronstadt Marine Plant in 1967. Mainly maintenance of gas turbine engines (GTE) on ships of the Navy. In addition, in the last two decades, CMM has mastered the repair of converted units and units that are used at the pumping stations of Gazprom.

Since 2014, when the Russian Navy, for known reasons, could no longer carry out repairs to gas turbine engines in Ukraine, the Marine Plant was entrusted with servicing the GTE. This unique production facility is equipped with a full set of necessary equipment and a test bench complex. In 2016 five gas turbines for the fleet were repaired, and in 2017 the same number should be restored.

Service of ships

Of course, more than 95% of the total work on ship repair is in the Navy. In the year, the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Kronstadt Marine Works" repairs and maintains more than 125 ships and vessels.

Today all enterprise docks are occupied. In the dock to them. F. V. Mitrofanova is servicing the frigate of the Baltic Fleet Yaroslav the Wise, in the adjacent dock "In Memory of Three Destroyers" welding works are carried out on the hull of the ferry "Shuya" and other auxiliary vessels of the Leningrad Naval Base.

Unique work was done in the dock. PI Veleschinsky, the largest in the Kronstadt marine plant. Here, the world's only floating lighthouse Irbensky was rebuilt, transferred in autumn 2016 to Kronstadt from Lomonosov. Plant workers, at the request of the Museum of the World Ocean , lovingly restored the hull, repaired the rifle complex, protected the underwater part from corrosion.

Next to Irbensky, the flagship of the Leningrad naval base of the training ship Smolny is being renovated. An important mission of the company is the overhaul of diesel low-noise submarines of the Varshavianka project.

Future plans

To date, the gas-turbine production of the plant is fully provided with orders - the company repairs up to 20 engines and GPU units per year. As for ship repair, the management plans its growth due to the increase in orders, which would provide for short-term and medium-scale and capital repairs of ships to increase their service life.

For this purpose, a program has been prepared for the conversion of dry docks, there is a project for sheltering the docks with an inking to ensure quality work conditions regardless of the weather. It is planned to increase the number of quay walls and, correspondingly, increase the number of ships that KMZ can simultaneously take. Among the projects for the development of the plant is considered the possibility of completion of ships being built at the enterprises of St. Petersburg, the concept of the construction of a large-capacity shipbuilding complex on the basis of the dock for them is being discussed.
