Knockdown is ... What is the difference between knocking and knocking down

Boxing, despite its certain cruelty, like watching many, including women, and sometimes children (if allowed by their parents). Even people far from this sport let them vaguely, but imagine what a knockdown is. This word is sometimes used in a figurative sense, far from boxing. However, if you are seriously interested in sparring in the ring, you need to have a more accurate picture of the events taking place there.

What is a knockdown: boxing and its rules

Most of the terms of this sport refer to strikes being applied by competitors. In translation from English, "knockdown" is a "crushing, knocking down blow". The one who received it, loses its vertical position and finds the third point of support. And it does not matter what it is - a hand, a leg or the entire back surface. This situation is already considered a knockdown. If before the referee counts to ten, the athlete will be able to take the stand and raise his arms for the fight, the position is determined as a knockdown. Special bonuses and extra points, he does not bring - the judge counts the temporary placement of the opponent as another accurate blow.

Knockout and knockdown differ from each other only by the outcome of the missed hook or uppercut. If a defeated sportsman is not able to stand on the account of "ten" on his feet, the judge articulates this as an "out", and his opponent is awarded a victory.

The situation when the boxer from blow has born outside of a ring is curious is curious. Judging counts in this case increases to twenty. However, during this time, the defeated fighter must be in time not only to recover, but also to return to the site, so that usually take-out for the ropes ends with the recognition of a knockout.

Technical knockout and early victory

The manager in the ring, the only and indisputable, is the referee. Only he decides if the fight can continue. When the condition of one of the athletes inspires him doubt, he can consult with the medic. If the doctor finds the knockdown to be dangerous, the fight stops, and the missed blow turns into a knockout, only in the technical one.

There is only one person who can challenge the judge's decision - the boxer's second. However, his intervention can only lead to defeat: if he throws a towel into the ring, the victory of the enemy is recognized in connection with its obvious advantage.

Standing variety

There are some subtleties in determining the position of the boxer in the ring. So, a standing knockdown is the flight of an athlete to the ropes and the supposition of the referee that only they were deterred from falling. If such a suspicion arose, he again starts counting.

Note that in the championship battles standing knockdown as a concept is absent. But in professional battles of lower class, and even more so in amateur ones, it is observed.

Three Knockdowns

Not always battles are won on points, clean or technical knockout. If the boxer has been knocked down three times in one round and managed to stand up for the last time, the referee stops the fight. Anyone who misses three serious hits is considered knocked out automatically. True, this rule is not always the case. It must be observed in the battles held by the WBA.

Flash knockdown

By this term is meant an easy defeat, when the boxer comes to the flooring for a very short time, not only without completely falling down, but not remaining with the third support for a long time. However, even if he is out of the vertical position is not longer than five seconds, the referee will still start counting.

Interesting observation: knockdown is more like an amateur position in the ring. In professional fights such situations are very rare, because athletes are able to escape from dangerous strikes and bring up stamina and endurance. But professionals are not always able to protect themselves from knockdown.
