The therapeutic effectiveness of the drug is achieved by suppressing the production of an enzyme element, cyclooxygenase, which is involved in the synthesis of prostaglandin substances. It is prostaglandins that are responsible for the appearance of puffiness in places exposed to various inflammatory processes and pain sensations.

Ointment "Ketoprofen" relieves the feeling of pain in the joints during movement and at rest, helps reduce edema and morning stiffness of bone mass, it makes it possible to increase the motor load on the joints without harm to the body as a whole.

Composition

Ointment "Ketoprofen" (gel) - a mass that does not have a color or any characteristic shade, which smells of ethyl alcohol in combination with essential oils. Only an external application is required. In 1 g of the gel texture contains 25 mg of the active element of ketoprofen. The list of other components of the medicinal product includes an aqueous solution (purified), ethyl alcohol, complexin, propylene glycol, carbomer, diethanolamine, macrogol, lavender oil.

The drug is produced in other forms - in capsules, tablets, solution, candles, creamy paste.

One capsule of the anti-inflammatory drug contains 50 mg of ketoprofen. In addition, the composition includes substances such as beeswax, vegetable oil, soybean oil with hydrogenated properties, glycerin, sodium propyl-p-hydroxybenzoate, sodium ethyl-p-hydroxybenzoate, titanium dioxide.

The retard tablet contains 150 mg of the active ingredient, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, silicon dioxide colloid, magnesium stearate, povidone, microcrystalline cellulose.

Tablet forte contains 100 mg of ketoprofen, povidone, silicon dioxide, starch, talc, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide and lactose.

The rectal application candle contains 100 mg of the active element, miglitol, fat in solid form.

The cream is produced with a 5% concentration of the basic substance, which corresponds to the presence of 50 mg of ketoprofen. Among the auxiliary components are propylene glycol, methylhydroxy benzoate, isopropyl myristate, sorbitan, polyethylene glycol-45-dodecylglycol, propylhydroxybenzoate, water after purification.

In which cases should I apply?

"Ketoprofen" - ointment, which is an excellent tool for long-term therapy, designed to get rid of the symptoms of inflammatory processes in the joints.

Doctors prescribe this drug to people suffering from rheumatoid polyarthritis, arthrosis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatism, spondyloarthritis, acute type rheumatism. Also, the ointment is used as a local external therapy for tears of muscle tendons and ligaments, with inflammation of the tendons. Effective to eliminate swelling after injuries and pain in the lumbar region.

Ketoprofen ointment: instructions for use

The gel should be applied to the inflamed and painful areas of the skin no less than 2 times a day, rubbing lightly with massage movements into the skin. The gel strip should be about 3-5 cm long. When the ointment is completely absorbed, it is recommended to apply a dry bandage of gauze to a vulnerable place. The daily dose should not exceed 375 mg of ketoprofen, which is equivalent to 9 cm of ointment or 15 grams.

Pregnant and lactating women should not use the drug, except in some cases:

1. The use of ointment for future mothers is allowed if the gestation period does not exceed 6 months.

2. Nursing mothers can also use "Ketoprofen" ointment. The instruction of the preparation contains information according to which it is possible to resort to the passage of therapy by this means to lactating women provided that the complete cessation of breastfeeding is ceased.

Before using the drug, it is recommended to check the individual sensitivity to its individual components (ketoprofen, salicylates). Also, the drug should not be used if there are infected wounds.

When prescribing "Ketoprofen" as the main drug for therapeutic treatment, it is necessary to exclude the influence of alcohol, since the irritating effect it exerts can lead to gastric bleeding.

To drink tablets you need a sufficient amount of liquid (at least 250 ml), and after taking no longer go to bed for at least half an hour.
