Karelian bear dog. Features of care and education

Karelian bear dog is designed to hunt for strong, large-sized game, for example, a bear, a lynx and a wolf, a hare, a wild boar and an elk. Outwardly, it resembles the Russian-European husky, and this is due to the fact that these two breeds have common genetic roots. If you catch two dogs of this breed at once, it will be a real show, because they are playful and mobile, but they require master control.

Extremely bold and enduring Karelian dog always displays anger towards the beast. She has a certain stubbornness, she is not friendly with other dogs and very fond of hunting herself. The most common color is black with small white spots. In the graceful animal of this breed, spots are found on the chest, head, neck, and also on the abdomen and legs. In males, the height at the withers is 54-60 cm, and in females - up to 53 cm.

This breed is loved on all continents, and especially in Europe and North America. To the undoubted merits, one can attribute the fact that the Karelian Laika is an excellent watchman, because this working breed is strong, with small but muscular legs. Do not start such a dog if you are an inexperienced dog breeder, as she needs a strict and very competent master who will teach her to unconditional submission. She is by nature - an absolute leader, in a relationship trying to dominate.

There are also subtleties in feeding, as the Karelian bear dog refers to carnivorous animals. She has a voluminous stomach, a special composition of digestive juices, and also a short intestine, in comparison with other dogs.

Karelian bear dog is very mobile, and constant movement is her way of life. She loves freedom and uses every opportunity to hunt. This animal absolutely does not accept life on a leash and in dark barns. Optimum housing for her is a separate room with an exit and a fenced place for walking. She needs long walks and strengthened training.

The main qualities of an adult dog are courage, independence, perseverance, tenderness, sensitivity and independence. How to properly grow a puppy, to make it real, enduring the Karelian bear dog? For this, patience and certain knowledge will be needed, but in no case is cruelty.

Immediately select the small dog its permanent place. Let it be a rug, which the owner daily cleans and shakes out. Remember, the animal should not get a place near the heaters and drafts. The dog is brought up strictly, it must clearly know the place of the toilet, respond to the name and obey the master.

Decisive and very responsible is the age of the puppy from 1 to 8 months. If there was a deficit of nutrients in these months, then irreversible developmental processes are possible, which can not subsequently be remedied. In the first months of life, mother's milk is needed, and then a nutritious, fresh and easily digestible, but low-volume food is gradually added.

Sea fish and meat products are the ration of a grown puppy. Meat should be 20-25% of the total volume of food, it is given mainly in raw form, adding then dairy products to food. Porridge from barley and pearl barley is undesirable. Lack of appetite in the puppy is the first signal about a deviation in health.

Karelian husky is born with hanging ears, but if the development is right, then by the 2nd month the ears will rise. If by 6 months this did not happen, then they will not recover, and this will be a deviation from the norm. When the puppy turns 3 months old, start teaching him to execute commands, pronounce them clearly and loudly, strictly in a certain order. Do not show irritation, be patient.

Bearish husk, bred in Finland, has a more significant weight, it is stronger, and yet it has a more calm and persistent nature, but it is not as durable as the Russian-European one. She has an attractive appearance, mischievous eyes, a fluffy collar around her neck and a large tail that twists constantly. Usually the bear husky grows to 48 cm at the withers, and its weight is 14 kg. With proper care and education she will be a faithful friend, a passionate hunter and a very hardy dog with excellent health.
