Juliet Capulet is the main heroine of the tragedy of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet"

Who does not know the most sad story about the love of Romeo and Juliet, invented by the great English playwright - the famous William Shakespeare? This play dates back to the end of the 16th century. The reliability of this story is not established by researchers. However, the historical background and life motives in the Italian basis indicate that the Verona tragedy of lovers could very well be real.

Shakespeare was familiar with such dramatic events before. He read something similar from other authors, but he created his work in his own unique interpretation. The plot is uncomplicated. Two warring families - the Montagues and the Capulet - are constantly organizing various quarrels and fights. One day Montague's son Romeo was walking around the square. Thoughts of the young man were occupied by the unapproachable beauty Rosalind. His friend Benvolio good-naturedly offers him to pay attention to other girls.

At the same time, Juliet Capuleti, whose age is just over thirteen, is obedient and serene. She lives in her parents' house. Now they are discussing with the mother and the nurse about the matchmaking of Juliette Count Paris. Traditionally, the father arranges a ball-carnival and invites the groom to him. Romeo and his friends make their way to this party, changing into carnival costumes.

Love

Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montagues accidentally intersect. Their hearts strike love with lightning speed. The cousin of Juliet recognizes Romeo in a voice. And in order not to make noise, he picks him out. But he, leaving his friends, hides in the garden under the balcony of Juliet. A little excitement of a girl leads her to the balcony. She repeats his name. And, about a miracle, suddenly he responds. They admit to each other in love and swear not to part.

Monk Lorenzo agrees to secretly marry them. Soon there is a holy rite: lovers are happy. Perhaps it would be a bit late for this couple. But the unforeseen happens: in the square there is a fight between the bully Tybalt (cousin Juliette) and friends Romeo. In the heat of the cousin of our heroine kills the best friend of her lover - Mercutio. The embittered youth, in order to take revenge, rushes with a sword at Tybalt and kills him.

Exile

Now Romeo faces the death penalty. But the prince of Verona condemns him to exile. Monk Lorenzo suggests Romeo hide from everyone for a while. Juliet the Capulet is suffering greatly. And her relatives decide to hurry up with the wedding. Lorenzo suggests that she drink a miracle drug from which she will plunge into a deep sleep, similar to death. When she is buried in the crypt, Romeo will come for her. Then she wakes up, and they together hide from prying eyes until better times. But Romeo did not receive a warning letter.

In the morning, relatives find the girl dead in a wedding dress. She is buried in a family crypt. Having learned about the death of his beloved, Romeo, distraught with grief, hastens to her to the tomb. There he meets her fiancé Paris, with whom he enters into a duel and strikes him with his sword. Romeo remains alone in front of Juliet's coffin and is surprised that she looks beautiful, like a living one. Cursing all evil forces, he drinks poison.

Death

Lorenzo is late. He is no longer able to do anything. At the same time, Juliet awakens from a dream and assures the monk that everything is fine with her. Lorenzo asks her to leave the crypt as quickly as possible. She gets up and suddenly sees the dead Romeo. From grief, the girl takes his dagger and pierces it in his chest. Soon, dead bodies were discovered by their relatives. Monk Lorenzo told everything that happened to Romeo and Juliet. The Montagues and Capulet, having lost their favorite children, decided to put an end to hostility. On their grave it was decided to put two golden statues.

Characteristics of Juliet

As you can see, one of the main characters of the work is Juliet. Referring to her characteristics, we note that she is the only daughter in the Capulet family. This clan is in an irreconcilable hostility with the Montague family. Juliet is a very young girl who does not know life. She was not yet fourteen years old. She's smart and very sweet. At the beginning of the work she appears in the image of an obedient and humble daughter for her parents, who listens to their instructions and fulfills all requests.

Juliet Capulets change dramatically after an unexpectedly flaring love for Romeo. She turns into a determined and fearless girl, ready for any sacrifice for her second half. She asks Romeo to swear to her in love. Juliet is a decent and noble girl. Therefore, he wants to get married with Romeo and after being devoted to his wife. Knowing that their marriage will not be approved by relatives, she still decides on this step. Even in spite of all the prohibitions and enmity. She tells Romeo about her strong love, after the wedding ceremony swears life to put at his feet and go after him even to the end of the world.

Fatal love

Juliet is pure soul. She gratefully perceives the worries of her parents, who found her a worthy groom. But she fell in love with Romeo. So now, after a secret wedding, to avoid sin (marriage with Paris) and be with her beloved forever, the girl is ready for any dangerous actions. She says she will do everything to stay true to her lover.

In the life of Juliet there is no place for self-affirmation, which is so obsessed with Romeo at the beginning of the play, in love with Rosalind. Since all women in her house are subject to the will of the father, excluding any activity. Prior to the meeting with Romeo, Juliet did not even think about the reasons for the hostility between the clans. The Montagues for her were just enemies. But after the awakening of the feeling of love in her soul, her mind comes to life. She begins to ask herself questions: how to remain obedient and loving daughter and at the same time be honest with her conscience?

Romeo and Juliet are people of their era. And therefore they are not in power to escape from her wild mores and prejudices. Recall at least a moment when Juliet, wanting to take the misfortune from Romeo, who fled to Mantua, asks a mother who is eager to poison the killer of Tibalt, to allow herself to prepare a deadly potion herself. And her mother was not at all surprised that her daughter knew the recipes for cooking poisons. She does not condemn her desire to take revenge with the same cruelty as men of their kind.

Conclusion

Shakespeare loves her characters and treats them with fatherly tenderness. The playwright sees them through and does not blame their weaknesses. He hints that they, with their vices and their shortcomings, deserve true love, because as soon as a sincere and ardent feeling raises them above the imperfection of life. Love will save them from the evil that prevails in the world.
