Ilya Starinov: biography and photos
Ilya Starinov is one of the most famous Soviet saboteurs. Thanks to his efforts, special units of the Red Army were formed, which carried out their tasks in all corners of the Earth. The contribution of Starinov to the improvement of military tactics is difficult to overestimate.
Starinov Ilya Grigorievich: biography
He was born in 1900 in a small village on the territory of modern Orlovschiny, in an ordinary peasant family. Since childhood, Ilya helped his parents and worked hard. In 1917, a civil war begins. Soviet power is fighting immediately on several fronts. At the age of eighteen, Ilya Starinov joined the newly created Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. The month lasts for training, after which his unit is sent to the south to fight with the troops of Kornilov. After the battle under Korocha, Starinov was wounded, and captured by the White Guards. But after a short time the fighter makes an escape and returns to the system. After the treatment, he begins his sapper career. As part of the offensive group takes part in the expulsion of Wrangel from the Crimea. After winning the civil war for the demonstrated skills, the command sends him to Voronezh to upgrade his skills.
Military career
After finishing the course, Ilya Starinov goes to Kiev, where he commands the railway regiment. His unit is engaged in the construction of a railway. In this case, Ilya himself continuously learns, mastering all the subtleties of military art. Two years later he attended courses in Leningrad.
Military theory
After graduating from training, Starinov appointed to the post of commandant of the railway station. Its task is to accompany high-ranking military and political figures. In the thirties, a civil war broke out in Spain. Left-wing revolutionaries are fighting the fascist regime of Franco. The Soviet Union is supporting them. Therefore, in the thirty-sixth year Ilya Starinov was sent to Spain as a military adviser. Using his knowledge, he teaches resistance fighters. Also prepares miners and sappers. In a fairly short time, he became an adviser to the three thousandth partisan corps. He is directly involved in the planning of operations. Thanks to the actions of Starinov, the Spanish partisans succeeded in blowing up several trains with high-ranking officials, blocking the promotion of the Franco people by rail for several days, destroying a considerable amount of equipment and personnel under Madrid, and also carrying out a number of other significant operations.
Homecoming
In the thirty-seventh year, Ilya Starinov returned to the USSR. On arrival, he reports on the events in Spain to Clement Voroshilov. In two years a new war begins. Fearing the aggression of Finland, as well as trying to secure its borders, the Red Army goes on the offensive on the Karelian Isthmus. There, Starinov deals with the issues of mine clearance and counteraction to enemy saboteurs.
The Great Patriotic War
From the first days of the war, Starinov is on the front line. In the conditions of the battle with the occupiers, the skills of the saboteur are needed more than ever. In the summer of 1941, Ilya Grigorievich Starinov was in charge of the unit responsible for mining on the western front.
Through the efforts of Starinov, the railroad near Kharkov was damaged, which greatly delayed the Nazis. Also, an operation was carried out to liquidate Lieutenant-General Beineker, led by Ilya Starinov. The saboteur planted a radio-controlled bomb in the General's mansion, which was undermined during the banquet of the Nazis.
Organization of sabotage activities

He also took part in the liquidation of nationalist gangs in the territory of Western Ukraine. In the fifty-sixth year he left the armed forces. He worked in various party positions. He taught courses of partisan and diversionary tactics. Participated in various social events. Also for some time he held a position in the Moscow Museum. He lived a hundred years.
