How to teach the puppy to the tray?

In the modern world, when there is a catastrophic lack of time not only for pets, but also for the family, the question of how to accustom the puppy to the tray is becoming more urgent. The easiest way to solve this problem is for the owners of small dogs, although my Staffordshire terrier coped with the task posed with great success.

Many people who want to start a pet do not know how to accustom the puppy to the tray, and often prefer animals that do not need constant walking. When our old pet died 10 years ago, and I decided to start a new dog, the first thing I did was to teach the puppy to the tray. At the same time several questions were solved:

- there was no need strictly for hours to take the pet out for a walk;

- Households who did not want to take the dog, faced a very difficult dilemma: either take the puppy out into the street, or clean up the waste of his life from the tray;

- In extreme cases, when the dog remains for a long time, she does not have to endure, besides, the problem of cleaning up piles and puddles throughout the apartment is no longer there.

In general, from which side do not look, the question of how to accustom the puppy to the tray became a priority for me. Information on this topic at that time was not, therefore, following my experience in growing dogs and teaching them to order, I began to work out my scheme of upbringing. Everyone knows that a small puppy often makes puddles and piles in different places. I left my puppy for a long time in the corridor, which for him became a "place of residence". It is easiest to teach a puppy to the tray when the dog has a rather limited space for movement around the apartment. When my puppy was left alone, I closed all the interior doors and opened the door to the toilet where there was a wide plastic tray on the floor, in which was a rag soaked in the puppy's urine. At this time, in order to repel the smell of urine from those places where the puppy had previously emptied, at least twice a day with water with bleach soap floors. In the end, the dog chose a cloth with its odor for its needs and did its "deeds" in the tray. Of course, an impeccable hit in it was often not observed, but at least the dog realized that it was necessary to cope with its need in a toilet with a tray.

The problem is how to accustom the puppy to the tray, it was solved in just 1.5 months. Some time after the puppy realized that he had a place in the apartment where he could at least be emptied, I stopped putting a rag in the tray. If my dog went to the toilet in the apartment, you just had to wash the contents of the tray in the toilet, wash it and wipe the tile on the floor with chlorinated water. After this procedure, the smell of excrement completely disappears.

It is even easier with the training of small breeds of dogs in the tray . For their natural needs, you can buy an ordinary "cat's toilet" and use a special filler for it. It is easy to take care of such a tray, since the contaminated filler can be cleaned with a special spatula. A new filler is poured into place.

When you notice that a small puppy is looking for a place to help his needs, move him to a place with a tray where he can empty himself without punishment. Even if you did not manage to transfer the puppy on time, do it anyway. The dog will soon realize that this place is intended for the toilet. The main thing is that access to this place is always free.

I still do not regret that I have trained my dog to the tray. I began to teach her at the age of 1.5 months, but now, when she is 10 years old, she goes to the tray in case of emergency , who constantly stands in the toilet.
