How to properly sign an envelope: tips and tricks

Today people send letters rarely by ordinary mail, so young people, and even older people, often have a question: how to sign an envelope? A person who knows the answer to this question will not understand the complexity of the situation, but it really is.

What information should be on the envelope?

The postman can not deliver correspondence to the required address, if the envelope does not have all the necessary details. In that case, your letter will return.

Be sure to write the following:

  • Post office index of the recipient;
  • The sender's address;
  • address of the recipient;
  • Name of the sender and recipient.

Sender Information

Do not know how to properly sign an envelope? Then this information is for you!

First you need to fill in the data about the person who sends the correspondence. According to the rules of business, the sender's data is written in the upper left. The first line is the surname, name and patronymic of the person. Further we write a street, house and apartment number (if this is a multi-storey house). Then the name of the city (village, township) is entered. If one of the addressees lives in the village, you must write the name of the district, because there can be many rural settlements with the same name in a particular area. After writing the name of the item, we indicate the name of the region (Kirovograd, Kiev, etc.) and the country, for example, "Ukraine".

At the very bottom of the index is written. By the way, what is it? There is a huge network of post offices around the country. For a clear organization of mailing of correspondence, parcels, parcels, postal orders, each department is assigned a number. In Ukraine, the index is five-digit. The last two digits are the post office number, and the first three are the area code or a specific region. In Russia, the index is six-digit, because the state itself is much larger, but the principle of reading the index is the same.

Let's give examples (addresses and full names fictitious):

1) Timurov Andrey Viktorovich
Ul. Kievskaya 1, Apt. 143, Kiev, Ukraine
01001;

2) Andreichenko Nikolay Lavrentievich
Ul. Lenin 26, p. Belozernoe of the Novgorod region of the Kirovograd region, Ukraine
26008.

Information about the recipient

As we have already stressed, the postman should understand who is addressed to the letter, so we need to know how to properly sign the envelope. All information that concerns the recipient of the mailing, we enter in the lower right corner of the envelope. In order to avoid accidental mistakes, it is desirable to write all the names, especially the numbers, with a clear calligraphic handwriting.

The procedure for writing information is the same as for the sender's data, but let's give another example:

  • Ivanov Ivan Ivanovich
    Ul. Tobilevich 43a, p. Zorya, Poltava region, Poltava region, Ukraine
    30095

Be careful! On some envelopes the surname of the sender must be indicated in the genitive case, the recipient in the dative.

How to properly sign an envelope: individual cases

Consider some situations that happen not so often. For example, the sender does not know the exact address of the recipient or the addressee is engaged in some business (for example, trade) and does not want his place of residence to be known to many people. In this case, you can write a letter "poste restante". How to sign the envelope in this case? In the upper left corner, you need to arrange everything according to the rules. But in the lower right corner it should be written like this:

  1. Ivanov Ivan Ivanovich
    Kirovograd, Ukraine
    Poste restante
    25005 (if you do not know the exact address)

2) Oleshkevich Irina Sergeevna
POBox 100, Kirovograd, Ukraine
25005
(If the recipient does not wish to communicate the real address of his residence).

Sometimes employees send out correspondence on behalf of a legal entity. Also ordinary citizens can apply in writing to the state body. How to properly sign an envelope in this case? Instead of the full name of the recipient or the sender, write the name of the company (public authority). For example: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Now, probably, everyone will know how to sign an envelope in Ukraine and Russia.
