How to plant a lilac: basic rules

Fragrant bushes of lilacs decorate many suburban areas. The fragrance of lilac is like a lot and it reminds the smell from childhood. How to plant a lilac in a prepared soil?

Despite the fact that this type of shrub is not exacting in growing and grooming, the landing should still be made in cloudy, cool weather. The best time for transplant is autumn, before the first frost. You can not plant young seedlings in wetland or mud. Below are the stages of how to plant a lilac:

  • Before planting the lilac, the pit is filled with drainage and filled with prepared soil to the middle;
  • The roots are lowered into the pit, the remaining soil is neatly spread and emptied, the plant should not be too deep, the small planting is also contraindicated, since the upper roots can dry out;
  • The soil needs to be compacted a little, the edges of the socket should be raised by 20 cm;
  • Pour into the hole 4-5 buckets of water, wait until it is absorbed;
  • Mulch the soil under bush peat, mown hay or sawdust.

It is worth noting that autumn landing in the ground is preferable to spring, as in autumn the shrub will take root, and wintering will please with flowering in the first summer.

Aftercare of the lilac

As already mentioned above, for lilac, the acidity of the soil is important . Many gardeners noticed that with time the inflorescence change color, grow smaller. This means that the soil is not suitable for shrubs. On acidic soil lilac may wither completely. It is necessary to take care of the introduction of deoxidizers or wood ash.

In addition, the lilac needs watering and top dressing, at least during flowering and during the winter. Under the bushes, the manure or repellent is added.
