How to copy text using the keyboard in Windows operating systems

Quite often, in the process of working in the operating system of the Windows family and in various applications (for example, Microsoft Office or Adobe Photoshop) there is a need to add the same type of data. In such cases, it is best to use the copy command. When you run it, the following question arises: "How do I copy text using the keyboard?". Why is this input device, and not a manipulator? There may be several answers. Among them, there are two main ones - the mouse is faulty (such cases happen often, but you need to work) or using the keyboard, this operation is much faster when typing.

Before you copy text using the keyboard, you need to select a piece of information. The simplest way is to hold down the "Shift" key, and use "←" and "→" to select the required fragment. If the amount of information is large, then you can select text using the "↑" and "↓" buttons. In the case of a very large fragment, the selection is made using the Shift and Ctrl keys simultaneously pressed and then pressing ↑ and ↓. To select all the text, press "Ctrl" and "A".

After the necessary text fragment is selected, it is necessary to copy it using the keyboard. There are also various options for performing this operation. The simplest and most common is the combination of "Ctrl" and "C". The second most popular variant of this procedure is the combination of the keys "Ctrl" and "Insert". Still there is an opportunity to use the program menu. For example, in the Microsoft Office 2010 and later versions, you can enter the main menu by pressing the "Alt" key. Then I click on the Russian layout to go to the Home tab. At the next step, press "C" to copy the required text information. Also, a similar procedure can be performed easily and simply if the keyboard has a context menu button. After highlighting the text, press this key. A context menu appears , which includes the "Copy" item. Press "↑" and "↓" to go to this item and press "Enter". After that, the selected fragment is copied to the application clipboard.

In addition, how to copy text using the keyboard, you can execute the command "Cut". The difference is that in the first case the original fragment is saved, but here it is completely moved to the clipboard. For these purposes, the combination "Ctrl" and "X" is most often used. Also there is an alternative option - "Shift" and "Del". Still it is possible through the main menu, but only at the last stage to press "X" instead of "C", as at copying. The last option is using the context menu button, and similar to the previously described method, only choose "Cut", and then all the same press "Enter".

At the final stage, you need to perform the insertion procedure. To do this, move the cursor to the desired place for insertion using "↑" and "↓". Then press "Ctrl" and "V" (this is the first version of this operation). You can also use the combination "Shift" and "Insert". The result will be similar. The third option is how to insert text from the buffer on the keyboard - use the main menu of the program. In the Microsoft Office 2010 and later versions, you can enter the main menu by pressing the "Alt" key. Then I click on the Russian layout to go to the Home tab. The next step is to press "V" to insert the necessary text information. Another option, the fourth one, using the context menu button and selecting the "Insert" item from the drop-down list and pressing "Enter".

Knowing how to copy text using the keyboard is irreplaceable in case of a malfunction of the mouse. Yes, and with the usual work on the keyboard, you can achieve increased productivity by using the specified key combinations. They are useful to know and use periodically.
