How to restore Windows XP using the Recovery Console

Quite often there are situations when Windows XP categorically refuses to boot. The cause of this situation can be system failures in the event of a drop in electricity, as a result of the action of viruses or other various factors. The risk of such a problem grows in direct proportion to the period of use of the system, which makes a long time of operation without reinstallation a rather risky exercise.

In such cases, usually, to save information from the local drive "C" and continue working with the system, apply methods such as:

- return to the last savepoint;

- loading the last of the successful configurations;

- Login in safe mode.

However, often these methods can no longer help. At the same time, few people know about such a simple, but effective method - the recovery of Windows XP using the Recovery Console. The process is really very simple, so restoring Windows using the console will not cause any difficulties even for an unprepared user. However, this requires a disk with Windows XP.

In order to start the recovery of Windows XP through the Recovery Console, you need to insert the disk into the computer and restart it. At the beginning of the computer startup, you should click the "delete" button, which allows you to go to the "bios" settings. There, in the boot priority, you must first select the "CD-Rom" and press the "F10" button, then confirm the changes with the "Y" key (which means "Yes"). The computer will restart and at boot time check the presence of the disk in the drive, prompting you to confirm by pressing any key on the keyboard that you really need to boot from the drive in the drive.

Next, the Windows XP distribution will be loaded into RAM, and a blue screen appears, on which you will be prompted to install or restore Windows. Restoring Windows XP using the Recovery Console will be successful if the user presses the "R" key, i.e. Select the item "restore".

After confirming the selection, an inscription will appear asking "which system should be logged in". As a rule, the user has only one OS on the PC, that's why they choose it. Then enter the administrator password (if needed) and press the "Enter" button.

The next step will be the appearance of the inscription "C: \ windows>", where you need to enter: "fixboot", then you need to press the "Y" button to confirm the installation in sector "C". Then there will be a load in the sector, after which again there will be: "C: \ windows>", where we enter "fixmbr". On the screen you can see a warning message, at the appearance of which you need to press the "Y" button.

After that, the main boot will be recorded on the hard disk, after which the notification of its successful completion will appear. At the prompt "C: \ windows>", you will need to answer "Exit". The computer will reboot, and you will be able to re-use all the previously-stored information.

You must remember that you can restore Windows XP using the Recovery Console if it is the primary system, and there are no installed operating systems in parallel.

A user who knows how to recover Windows XP using the Recovery Console can always return access to important information.
