How to choose Moldovan cognac?

Moldavian cognac, popular in Russia since the times of the USSR, is recognized first of all by a characteristic label. It depicts a white stork on the background of a bunch of grapes grown under the bright sun of Moldova. How to choose the right Moldovan cognac? This question is of interest to many consumers.

20 years earlier

Choosing cognac, some people rely on the prevailing opinion that a good, high-quality, real product can only be French. Not doubting that the masters of Poitou-Charentes and other regions of the far country know how to prepare a wonderful hot drink, we will rightfully pay tribute to Soviet cognac affairs. Alcohol on the basis of the grapes, they made everything, the fortress was not occupied!

Russia began to produce a zest on an industrial scale for two decades earlier than France. Cognac Shustov and Saradzheva (it is known that in pre-revolutionary Russia there were two manufacturers - the firms "DZ Saradzhev" and "KL Shustov with sons") firmly registered in the French side, when enterprising foreigners issued a patent for the word "cognac" (French cognac). But the drink from Russia from the lack of attention of connoisseurs has never suffered.

On a scientific basis

Indeed, the wonderful gift of memories persistently says: before the Great October Socialist Revolution, which stirred the world in 1917, the best and most widespread in Europe was the Russian cognac. He was loved and recognized by all who were willing to "bite" at least once. They chose consciously: for taste, aroma, pleasant golden color.

In the days of not so distant (Soviet) production of strong grape "with stars" was put on a scientific basis. There were no variegated "technical conditions" - they adhered to state standards developed according to strict canons. For example, the Institute of Biochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, the Moldavian Research Institute of the Food Industry were engaged in studying volatile aromatic cognac compounds.

To learn how to choose the right Moldovan cognac, you need to imagine the process of making it. From white dry wine by distillation, cognac spirit is obtained. The latter is placed in a barrel of oak (if it is a cistern of a different material, then there must be an oak rivet). Enriched with tannins, the hot drink acquires a characteristic taste and smell.

Tiraspol "Quint"

One of the famous producers of cognacs (dinners) is the Tiraspol Wine and Brandy Factory KVINT. The enterprise was founded in 1897 (today it is part of the Sheriff holding company). The abbreviation stands for "cognacs, wine and drinks of Tiraspol". On the shelves of shops, the products of the plant are not uncommon. So the Moldovan cognac does not lose earlier achieved consumer sympathies, it is chosen for worthy quality and at an affordable price.

When choosing, it should be remembered that KVINT brand unites cognacs of three categories: ordinary, vintage, collectible. Longstanding consumer reviews confirm: in its price category, ordinary (aging - 3-5 years) divins - "very much even nothing." The color of the contents of the treasured bottles varies from the color of weak tea to dense amber. And although they say that there are no friends for the taste and color, the Moldovan cognac "Quint" is chosen by many connoisseurs of divines.

Vintage and collectible

Among the vintage KVINT cognacs there are "Surprise" and "Doina", produced according to the recipe, developed in the 50-60s of the XX century. They have a harmoniously selected bouquet with citrus notes, they are easy to drink, leave a pleasant chocolate aftertaste. This includes such brands as "Tiras" and "Nistru".

Collectible cognacs have seven names: Tiraspol, Victoria, Solnechny, Suvorov, Chernetsky, Jubilee, have an endurance of at least 15 years, and Prince Wittgenstein is 50 years old. The process of aging of special alcohols is very difficult, it requires special conditions. But gourmets testify: the bouquet and aroma are magnificent. Vanilla notes are vivid, Moldavian cognac acquires a particularly delicate taste.

Cognac "Quint": "White Stork"

Who does not know Moldovan cognacs? Names on hearing. One of the best-selling cognac brands is the White Stork. In 1979, the Government of the Moldavian SSR secured him for the Beltsy Combine. Then the products were bottled in other factories. After the republic left the USSR, the brand "White Stork" registered "Quint". Mark is recognized as the national property of Moldova.

Currently, the Moldovan cognac "White Stork" - an ordinary divin fortress 40% - is produced in Balti, Chisinau. A complex bouquet with flower tints is named after a white guardian bird: according to legend, storks brought to the besieged Moldavian fortress bunches of grapes, thereby saving people who died of hunger and thirst, therefore they became a symbol of Moldovan wine production.

The Chisinau wine-brandy combine (this was the name of the enterprise in 1959) was repeatedly reorganized, renamed. In 1983 it was the production association "AROMA". Already in the 2000s it became a joint-stock company. High level of management and compliance with international standards are certified. It's not for nothing that the Moldavian cognac is famous. "White Stork" is no exception.

We buy with knowledge

Moldovan cognac in Moscow can be bought both in branded and in small retail outlets, as well as in online stores. The products are approved for sale on Russian markets by Rospotrebnadzor ("Federal Agency for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare").

Given the richness of the proposals, it is important to take the choice of alcohol carefully. Basic rules for buying:

1. Try to buy alcohol in specialized stores - there, at your request, you will always be presented with a quality certificate.

2. Always specify the country of origin of the cognac (divin) and the company.

3. Do not save on health - in any case, the price of a quality drink can not be 30-40 percent below the market average.

4. Remember: the age of cognac is the time that it was in oak barrels. After a spill in bottles of the year for cognacs - "not wealth".

5. A strong drink is not sold in plastic containers (only glass!) - there is a chemical reaction and the release of harmful substances into the liquid. Label, cork - everything should be without flaws (the cork is well twisted, adhesive is not leaking from under the label).

6. Well, finally, in the "liquid amber" you acquire, there should be no turbidity and sediment. Successful purchase!
