The popularity of the genre among the public was so high that by the decision of the Altai regional executive committee in 1960, the institution was awarded the title of the Regional Theater of Musical Comedy, and in 1964 the whole company moved to Barnaul. Here the first home for a cohesive and talented team was the former NKVD. The Musical Comedy Theater (Barnaul) opened its season this season with the production of Mokrousov's Wind Rose.

The Musical Comedy Theater (Barnaul) has always depended on the commitment of the main director to certain currents in the genre of the operetta. So, in 1961 the head of the troupe became Aldakhin PV, who introduced the classic operetta into the repertoire of the theater. In 1963, the first ballet performance "The Corsair" by Adan and Deliba was staged on the stage of the theater. The producer was the young ballet dancer Gromov Nikolai, who later took the place of the chief choreographer of the theater.

In 1964, the team is replenished with new talents - comedian E. Ovchinnikov, vocalists Olga Polyakova and N. Napalkov, as well as soloists of the ballet Mikhailov V. and Shustova N. The troupe has new artists who play character characters - Olga Brylyakova, Claudia Novikova and Boris Manziuk. The Musical Comedy Theater (Barnaul) for many years has become a real creative home for these people. Constantly updated repertoire has always warmed the public's interest, and in 1965 the collective made its first tours to Ukraine.

Repertoire

For those who wish to visit Barnaul, the Musical Comedy Theater, whose repertoire includes both modern musicals and classical operetta, is part of the sight of the center of the Altai Territory. In 1972, the theater moved to a permanent residence in a new building at 108 Komsomolsky Avenue. The present Palace of Art, the Musical Comedy Theater (Barnaul), the photo confirms it, found a scene with excellent acoustics and a large hall with comfortable chairs.

In the same year, the main director of the troupe is a young graduate of the Leningrad Conservatory Khalifman L.E., whose productions for many years did not leave the stage due to their popularity. Among them - "Kholopka" Strelnikova, "Dreamers" Listov, "Night in Venice" Strauss and "Vial of Montmartre" Kalman. In 1980, the Musical Comedy Theater (Barnaul) replenishes the repertoire with the complex and exciting emotional works of Sandler's "Chestnuts of Kiev", V. Rubashevsky's "Man from the Legend" and S. Banevich's "The Blue Lady".

The play "The Blue Lady" was timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the city of Barnaul. It is based on the legend of the ghost of a beautiful lady in a blue dress. The performance was so successful that it stood more than 500 performances for 10 years. This is the real pride of a talented team.

Since 1991, the Musical Comedy Theater (Barnaul) has ceased to receive funding from the state and is moving to self-financing.

The institution received the status of a state institution, and in 1992 it was headed by the actor and director Filimonov VN, who grew up on this stage as a professional. In the repertoire of the collective are both classical operettas and modern rock operas "Juno" and "Avos" by A. Rybnikov and "Jesus Christ is a superstar" by Webber.

The life of the theater in the 21st century

Since 2000 the Musical Comedy Theater continues to successfully experiment with various genres, participate in theater festivals and actively touring around the country and abroad.

In 2010, the team celebrated the 50th anniversary of its activities. This was a real event of the year. On the day of the memorable date a documentary film about the history of the theater and its legendary collective was made. For such a short period for the theatrical group, they were put and played more than 250 performances of a different genre.

Residents of the Altai Territory are proud of their talented artists and are happy to visit the Musical Comedy Theater (Barnaul). The schedule of performances is constantly updated with new plays both from the children's repertoire and vitally important plays for adults.

Awards

Among the awards of the theatrical collective are the following:

  • The prize for the best choirmaster staging in the play "Juno" and "Avos";
  • The municipal prize "Theater" for the production of "The Bat" by Strauss;
  • A gold medal of the Siberian Fair for the rock opera "Jesus Christ is a superstar";
  • Diploma of the laureate of the festival "Other Shores" for the performance "Angels in Time";
  • Award of the Altai Territory for staging "The Maiden Trouble".

This troupe passed this path from a small group of young enthusiasts to the State Theater of Musical Comedy. Actors came and went, leaving behind a memory of unique and talented performances.
