How to care for tulips at different times of the year

The first thawed patches on the spring snow open the eyes of strong light green shoots, and the soul immediately becomes lighter: spring has come! And this is her first harbingers - tulips. They were created to please us with their brightness long before the queen of the garden rose, the rose, the merry asters or strict dahlias open. How to care for tulips, favorite colors of spring? Like all life and beauty, they respond to caring and affection, and from indifference wither and die.

It is no exaggeration to say that caring for them is a year-round process. Even in winter, under the snow, tulips like to be fed once or twice, covered from the severe frost. But the main concerns about flowers - they are, of course, in another season: planting, flowering and transplanting. At what stage do you begin to talk about how to care for tulips? Probably, it is better since autumn, when there is a bookmark of bulbs. In the middle zone of Russia, the end of September to October is considered the optimal time for disembarking this crop.

First of all, it should be remembered that the tulip loves lighted places and a good, soft soil, best sandy loam. Furrows with a depth of 15-20 cm are best shed by a hot solution of manganese, since flower bulbs are highly vulnerable to harmful fungi and bacteria contained in the soil. They are planted by eye, to a depth of about three heights of the bulb itself, at a distance of at least 20 cm from each other and sprinkled with earth.

It is desirable that the tulips are gone under the snow already sprouted, and for this it is important not to miss the time of planting. If you do not have time, it's okay, only in this case the flowering will begin later than usual. How to care for tulips in the winter - this has already been said a little above. It is very useful to make one of the special fertilizers for bulbous flowers directly on the snow. The next top dressing will be needed already at the beginning of flowering. In severe frost, it is desirable to pour more snow on top or cover the landing site with straw.

Care for the tulips in the spring is to avoid stagnation of the bulbs to prevent stagnation of thawed water, as well as the drying of the soil. To water them it is necessary constantly, even during flowering and necessarily after it, so that the leaves that feed the bulbs do not dry beforehand. It must also be ensured that the fading heads do not reach the stage of the seminal capsules. The flower began to wilt - it must be broken off immediately, leaving the green leaves - the bulb should receive food from them: there, under the ground, there is an active formation of children and the growth of the bulb itself.

In the summer, care work continues. Gradually, the dried leaves are removed, and by the end of June it is time to excavate tulips. After sorting, removing diseased specimens, the bulbs are placed for drying in a basket, put in a well-ventilated place, only not under the open sun. Those who know how to care for the plants at home, it is well known that direct sunlight, drafts, sudden temperature changes can not withstand a single flower. Tulip is no exception.

And again, fall! Again, it's time to think about planting in the right time, about leaving in winter, taking care of the first shoots in the spring, and, of course, how to care for the tulips in the flowering period. And so it will be ad infinitum, while there are in the world real connoisseurs of this flower, which carries joy in itself.
