How to build a graph in the "Word" using a spreadsheet?

Those who are just beginning to get acquainted with the actual capabilities of a text editor from Microsoft, I want to talk about its functionality as much as possible. Word is a program that, when thoroughly studied, any user understands that there is no need to install additional software to create presentations, booklets, brochures, and solve complex mathematical problems. Including the text editor is equipped with tools, with which it is easy to answer the question of how to build a graph. In the "Word" you can set parameters for charts of any kind. Only those who do not know how to go to the necessary tab and what data to make during the construction will not cope with such tasks.

Graphs in the Word 2007

The text editor from Microsoft in 2007 sharply differs from its software interface in 2003. But those who are used to the latter, it will be quite easy to deal with the "Word" of the penultimate version. The fact is that all the menus and commands the developers just brought to the tabs, the same ones are displayed in the browser programs. And in "Vord-2007" there was no need to look for the necessary option, opening one drop-down window and then another.

To answer the question of how to build graphics in the "Word", you also need to go to a specific tab. The developers attributed them to the total number of diagrams, but in order not to get confused, we will outline everything in order. For example, we solve the problem of investigating the simplest function.

Task example

Suppose that y = 2x-3. Then in order to construct a graph of the function, it is necessary to specify some values of x. We take them arbitrarily. For example, x = 1, x = 1.5, x = 2, x = 2.5. It is worth mentioning that for a linear function there are enough two points, but let's take four, since at the moment it's important not so much to solve the problem as to explain the principle of how to build a graph in the "Word". Then we solve the equation by substituting the chosen values of x. As a result, y will be -1, 0, 1, 2 (respectively).

Selecting the type of graph

After running the text editor, go to the "Insert" tab. This is where the diagram menu is located. After clicking on the corresponding icon, a pop-up window will appear on the screen. It presents various kinds of diagrams. The user should select a line with the name "Graph" and click the mouse in the "OK" checkbox.

Building

A template will be displayed on the sheet. As a rule, it contains several curved lines and two axes. It is not difficult to guess that the horizontal values are x, the vertical is y. Curved lines in the solution and construction will be replaced by one, but true.

Once the user agrees with the selected variant of the graph, the program window will be divided into two parts. On the left is the "Vorda" sheet, on the right is Excel. The spreadsheet already contains data that determines the location of the curves defined by the program. To answer the question of how to make a graph in the Word for the given example, the user needs to change the values of the rows (their names are on the top line of the spreadsheet), as well as the categories. Instead of them, you must enter the values of x. Two extra columns of rows must be deleted, and the received values y must be entered into the remaining values. The spreadsheet takes the following form:

Row 1

1

-1

1.5

0

2

1

2.5

2

As the user changes the data, the image of the graph will change as well. Two extra lines will disappear, and the remaining segment will take the proper shape.

The last steps in the "Word"

The answer to the question of how to build a graph in the "Word" is practically obtained. But there is one more point. The fact is that to the right of the graph are the symbols of the constructed and remote lines. They are called "Row 1", "Row 2", "Row 3". Clicking in the diagram area on the last two, the user can easily delete them with the Delete key. The remaining symbol must be renamed in the cell of the spreadsheet, replacing the name "Row 1" with the inscription "у = 2х-3".

Final touches in Excel

After the user has deleted unnecessary symbols in the chart area, he needs to remove the extra data in the spreadsheet. To do this, just change the range of the chart data by dragging the lower right corner of the frame to the required values.

After that, the name y = 2x-3 will be displayed at the top of the diagram. On this, the plotting in the "Word" can be considered complete.

Other features

The example considered is the answer to the question of how to plot the graph in the "Word" for the simplest function. But what is good about this text editor, so it's a lot of functionality. The entered data can be applied without any effort, with two clicks of the mouse, to other kinds of diagrams. The user only needs to enter into the same "Insert" tab and select any kind of graphical data display in the dropped menu. The text editor will change the chart type at one time.

Conclusion

How to draw a graph in the Word? This task is quite simple, but is it worth it if the functionality of the text editor is so universal that it allows you to create a line with accuracy up to a millimeter, after entering data into a spreadsheet? I think the answer here is obvious.
