How to breathe correctly during labor

For some reason, women begin to think about how to breathe properly during labor only in late pregnancy. But this is not quite the right decision. To begin to train it is necessary in advance, then the methods of correct breathing will be laid in the subconscious and will necessarily float at the right time, just when you will most need.

Why do you need to breathe properly?

Proper breathing during labor is very important because:

- when a woman is focused on breathing, she pays less attention to pain;

- when the muscles in the normal oxygen content, contractions are more effective. And this means that the process of childbirth will be faster;

- when a woman breathes correctly and her body, and the baby's body receives the necessary amount of oxygen;

- with proper breathing, a woman will not push at an inappropriate time. After all, by itself pushing out the baby requires a deep breath before it starts. Without breathing deeply, there will be very little room for the uterus to contract without pressure on it.

How to breathe correctly during labor

At the first phase of labor there are still no very painful fights and therefore do not need special techniques for proper breathing. During this period, the cervix is just beginning to be prepared for the delivery process and is slightly opened. By the end of this phase, the fights are becoming more frequent and, in certain cases, become extremely painful. Therefore, it is then necessary to begin using "analgesic" breathing. And for this you need to know how to breathe correctly during childbirth. Breathing should be like this: breathe in your nose at the expense of one-two-three-four, then breathe out with your mouth at 1-2-3-4-5-6. The main thing is that the exhalation should be longer in time.

Such a system of breathing is called "deep slow breathing". With him, the child receives the normal amount of oxygen needed, and the mother concentrates on the account distracted from pain and relaxes.

As the contractions intensify, deep and slow breathing ceases to bring the desired relief. Therefore, at the peak of the fight, it is necessary to use rapidity. So, how to breathe correctly during fights: when it's just beginning, breathe slowly and deeply, and when the pain becomes stronger, start doing it with your mouth open with the upper part of your lungs. It looks like this: hi-ha-hi-ha (and thus for each of the syllables and breaths, and exhalations). Exhalations will hardly be heard. And at the end of the fight, you must return to deep, slow breathing.

This phase is transitional. In some cases, it is not at all. This is exactly the time when attempts begin and the baby's head has already lowered. The child is ready to be born, but the cervix is a little late and does not have time to fully open. This situation is most often the first birth. This period can be called one of the most difficult. After all, he has very painful and violent bouts, and a woman can not push herself because there is a possibility of ruptures. At the moment you need to breathe superficially, without taking too deep breaths. Otherwise, you can provoke attempts ahead of time.

When the fight starts in the penultimate phase of childbirth, you need to get air and tug only in the crotch and necessarily exhale the air to the very end. This must be repeated three times for the fight. It is very important that you do not do it in your head. Because in such a case, efforts are wasted and manifested in the form of unpleasant bursting blood vessels on the face and eyes. Efforts must be kept under control. And keep the air with a voice gap with your mouth open.

When the head has already left, you need to stop pushing and breathe quickly with one mouth. At this point, the obstetrician will turn the child over so that it's easier to get out the shoulders and the whole body. With subsequent attempts, the baby will come out completely. It is very important to listen to the doctor and follow all his recommendations. And in between, breathe deeply and relax.

Now you know how to breathe correctly during childbirth and can control the whole process.
