How should the tomato be fed?

Wanting to get the maximum harvest, each trucker thinks about how and when the tomato should be fed. The number of grown tomatoes will depend not only on fertilizers, but also on the time of their planting, the conditions, the temperature of the environment and the intensity of irrigation.

If you have already purchased seedlings or grown it yourself in a greenhouse and plan to transplant it into the open ground, do not forget to water the ground beforehand. After all, tomatoes can survive only in moist soil. The next watering should be in 2-3 days. If any of the seedlings are not caught and dried, replace them with others. The subsequent care for tomatoes will consist in the regular moistening of the soil, its loosening and fertilization.

The first fertilizing of the tomato is carried out not earlier than 2 weeks after the planting of young plants in the open ground, and some agronomists tend to what should take about 20 days. If you do not want to buy a ready-made fertilizer for tomatoes, then it can be done in the following way: in 10 liters of water, 15 grams of ammonium nitrate, 40 grams of potassium salt and about 70 grams of superphosphate are bred. This mixture produces only the first fertilizing of tomato seedlings, while the plants are small and yet not too strong.

The next application of fertilizers falls on the period of appearance of tomato fruit. The second feeding of the tomato should be carried out with a solution in which there are no nitrogen fertilizers. After all, their excessive number leads to the fact that the plant is growing. He will have strong juicy branches, large leaves, but the flower ovary in this bush is poorly formed, usually it is shallow and weak. There will be practically no crop from such a plant. Also, such consequences can lead to excessive watering of tomatoes in combination with low illumination.

But experienced truck farmers know that this can be corrected: for this it is necessary to refuse to water the tomato (do not moisten the soil under them for about 10 days). You can not get out if the daytime temperature is lower than +25 ⁰ C, and at night - +22 ⁰ C. To get at least some harvest from bushes in which the green is excessively developed, the top dressing of the tomato should be made with superphosphate. This will help stop their growth, because it has been experimentally established that almost 95% of the phosphorus assimilated by the plants goes just to the formation and growth of fruits. For greater efficiency in the daytime, flower brushes can be slightly shaken by hand: this is how they are pollinated.

The third feeding of the tomato is carried out 2-3 weeks after the second. The mixture used should also not contain nitrogen fertilizers, it is sufficient that it contains only phosphorus and potassium. In addition to root feeding, effectively pollination of tomatoes with special preparations that contribute to the formation of floral ovaries, the formation and acceleration of fruit ripening.
