How dangerous is human papillomavirus 16

The human papilloma virus (HPV) is considered the most common virus on the earth. Papilloma is a formation of connective tissue, covered with multilayer epithelium. This disease represents a different degree of danger to humans - some are absolutely harmless, while others cause cancer. For example, human papilloma virus 16 is the main cause of a uterine tumor. According to statistics, out of a hundred infected about ten people, there is a probability of a clinical manifestation of this type of papillomavirus infection , and one person has a risk of cancer.

Now, science knows that the HPV virus has about 120 species, 80 of which have already been studied and described. Each of these types affects different organs and when choosing treatment requires a separate approach. Infection with this virus can occur both sexually, and contact-household, for example, through a touch. We will consider the first type of virus.

Anogenital papillomas or genital warts are a sexually transmitted infection (including oral and anal sex), an infectious disease. A very high risk of genital cancer is caused by the same human papilloma virus 16. An infection of this kind has a high spreading capacity, which usually occurs during sexual contact with the carrier of the disease.

The human papillomavirus 16 was almost completely detected in the samples taken from women with uterine cancer. No matter how sad such statistics are, this, in turn, proves a rather large prevalence of this cancer because of this virus.

Symptoms of HPV 16 include rashes of beige color of round shape - first in the genital area, then on the hips. It is also possible the appearance of tumors with a modified surface, which can be either brown or gray in color (when located on the mucous membrane), or black or ashy (on the skin). The speed of spreading the rash will depend on the state of the patient's immunity - the harder it is, the virus will be harder to overcome the healthy cells of the body.

If we talk about in-depth diagnostics of HPV 16, then colposcopy of the uterus is usually performed , which allows more detailed study of the sheaths of the vagina and cervix. Also produce a so-called differential staining, which helps to identify pathological areas of the mucous membranes.

To prevent the formation of uterine cancer, women who know that they have a human papillomavirus 16 are recommended to undergo regular (once every three to four years) tests (cervical screening, special tests) that will help to recognize the initial stage of the disease. In Russia, such examinations are recommended for all women between 25 and 64 years of age. In addition, it is now being vaccinated, able to protect the woman's body from this virus. This measure greatly helps to reduce the number of deaths caused by this insidious disease - cancer of the uterus.
