Therapeutic exercise in scoliosis

Scoliosis is called lateral curvature of the spine. Such deformation can occur in any part of the spinal column. Most often the disease develops in childhood or adolescence. The causes of such a disorder are congenital diseases and deformities, incorrect posture when sitting or walking, uneven exercise during exercise, etc. Therapeutic exercise in scoliosis is an integral part of the treatment. In addition, these techniques can and should be used as prevention of spinal deformities.

Therapeutic physical training in scoliosis and its importance . Regular exercise of simple exercises will help to stabilize the spine, which is especially important in childhood, when the skeleton is only being formed.

In addition, during training, the muscles of the back are significantly strengthened. Therapeutic gymnastics in scoliosis helps not only to straighten the deformed parts of the spine, but also gives a correct posture, thereby facilitating the movement and well-being of the person. The fact is that with properly developed spinal column and strong muscles, the process of gas exchange in the lungs, as well as the work of all internal organs, is significantly improved.

Therapeutic physical training in scoliosis: basic rules and warnings.

  • Begin training and training is only necessary for the appointment of an orthopedic physician. It is desirable that all recreational activities are conducted under the supervision of an experienced trainer.
  • Do not immediately give the body a great load, as with scoliosis it can only further bend the ridge. It is necessary to begin with a minimum voltage, gradually increasing it. If, after the start of training, the state of health has only worsened, it is necessary to stop exercising and immediately consult a doctor.
  • From the training program, it is necessary to exclude active stretching of the spine (for example, hanging on the crossbar), as well as exercises for flexibility, since this can only aggravate the situation.
  • Physiotherapy exercises in scoliosis can include swimming, because it is during the practice of this sport passively stretches the spine and strengthens the dorsal muscles. But running and jumping must be ruled out.

Physical exercises in scoliosis:

  1. First, you need to unload the spine and warm up the muscles. For this, walking on all fours is perfect for 2 - 3 minutes.
  2. Lie on your back, stretch your arms above your head. Now start stretching your arms and legs in different directions. Having reached the maximally stretched position, stay in it for 15 seconds. It is necessary to perform the exercise 3 - 4 times.
  3. A well-known exercise called "bicycle" will also be useful. Lie on your back, put your hands behind your head, and bend your knees and raise them above the floor. Begin to simulate the movement of a ride on a bicycle, maintaining an average pace. In this case, the legs should be unbent as close as possible to the floor - you should feel how the muscles of the waist and abdomen strain.
  4. The starting position is the same. Legs level and lift above the ground. Begin to make horizontal legs with legs ("scissors"), trying to keep the legs as close as possible in the floor, but not touching it.
  5. Lie on your stomach, stretch your arms behind your head, legs even. Now, simultaneously raise your legs, head, shoulders and arms above the floor, trying to keep yourself in such a tense state for at least 10 seconds.
  6. Good and will help ordinary squats. To perform this exercise you need a mirror so that you can constantly monitor your own posture. All sit-ups should be done slowly or at an average pace. First, put your hands on your waist and stand on your fingers - see that your shoulders are even. Now sit down slowly, bending your knees as much as possible, and still keeping your posture. After that, go back to the starting position and repeat another 5 to 10 times.
