Honey dew is the source of tasty and healthy honey.

If you walk through the forest in the early morning or evening, you can see dew drops on the leaves of some trees. And if you decide to try them, then with surprise you will notice that the drops are sweet to the taste. This dew in the people is called honeydew.

What is honeydew?

Do not be confused with the honeydew. Because honeydew is a sweet sticky liquid that occurs on the leaves of some trees, such as willow, ash, maple, hazel, oak, some fruit trees, herbs. This dew occurs when the temperature or humidity of the air changes abruptly. That's why it stands out on the leaves in the morning and in the evening. Honey dew contains water and sugar, and, in contrast to nectar, it contains dextrin, acids, proteins and minerals. In ancient times it was believed that honey-dew falls on trees from the stars. And, strangely enough, this belief persisted for many centuries. And only in 1740 the French naturalist Reaumur discovered that honeydew is the allocation of some species of trees.

Varieties of honey dew

As it was said above, often the honey dew is confused with the honeydew. What are they different? The matter is that the pad isolates some types of insects. This is a sticky sweet secretion of herbal lice, leaf-blocks, aphids and other insects that feed on the sweet juice of plants. The honey drop in its chemical composition is much more complicated than honey dew. It includes alcohols, hexatomic, nitrogenous and dextrinous substances, as well as mineral salts. The ants are very fond of such honeydew, they even guard the colonies of aphids to eat sweet extracts.

Honeydew (beekeeping)

Sometimes bees instead of nectar collect honeydew and dips, which contain much less sugars digested by bees. This honey is harmful to bees. Therefore, you can not leave it for the winter as a food for insects. Honey paddy can cause diarrhea and death of bees.

But many absolutely disagree with this statement and believe that it is much more useful and has powerful healing properties. And because beekeepers of many countries highly appreciate this honey (honey dew).

Properties of pade honey

Since honeydew is a sweet secretion of some species of insects or plants, the composition of the honeydew will strongly depend on these parameters. It is believed that in pade honey, the concentration of natural antibiotics is much higher than in floral (about 1.7 times). And the quantity of iron, salts of cobalt, manganese, phosphorus, protein and nitrogenous substances exceeds three and a half times. Other characteristics of honey from the pada include slow crystallization due to low glucose content, a viscous structure. For those who do not like the sugary sweet taste of flower honey, a padewood is a real find. It is moderately sweet, has a slightly expressed aroma.

Padego honey acts on the body as a probiotic. With the use of such honey, the intestine improves the microflora, the number of necessary bacteria increases. This product contains a large number of antioxidants, and therefore, it helps to remove free radicals from the body.

As mentioned above, padovy honey contains a large amount of natural antibiotic. As a result of the increased content of the enzyme, the body is better protected from bacteria and viruses. Because of the high content of amino acids and cobalt salts, this type of honey has a beneficial effect on the nervous system.
