Home soda and cans for siphon

Grandmothers and grandfathers of modern schoolchildren recall nostalgically those times when everywhere in the cities there were machines with soda water. For one penny, they happily bubbling, poured into a glass with a glass of plain water, and for three kopecks, another portion of syrup relied on it. Soda was loved by absolutely everything - adults and children alike, even though the water in it was from a common water pipe, since no one has ever heard of any filters. And the very idea of buying drinking water in bottles was unthinkable. The only exception was mineral water.

At that time in many families there was also such a convenient device as a siphon. What it is? Yes, here it is. Do not you recognize? But meanwhile, he has not changed at all since your grandmothers drank soda from the same apparatus. And the cans for the siphon look exactly the same as before.

The device itself is a glass vessel, protected by a plastic or metal shell, with a capacity of one to two liters. The lid for it is equipped with a holder for a can of compressed or liquid carbon dioxide. From the lid, a hose is inserted into the vessel, through which the gas is delivered inwards. Pour water into the vessel, tighten the lid tightly, insert the cans for the siphon into the pencil case and press the lever. A special needle pierces the hole in the sleeve, and gas is pumped into the water under strong pressure. The water sizzles happily and foams, pouring into a glass. That, in fact, and the whole design.

With the help of a siphon, you can prepare many tasty cocktails based on soda water. But just pour water into it. Neither juices, nor fruit drinks, nor compotes in it can not be filled. If you want water with syrup, then add syrup or jam directly into the glass.

You are interested in such a convenient device, and you want to know where to buy a siphon? Some time ago, you could not fulfill this desire. Unless, having run through the "flea markets", would have found on sale such a rarity. Having bought it, you would then have to look for another gas station to it. But now they are again on sale and even look about the same as before. Even the cans for the siphon have not changed and contain all the same 8-10 milliliters of carbon dioxide.

This, by the way, is not very convenient, since enough of these 10 ml only per liter of water. Yes, and handling them requires skill. Due to the fact that the gas in them is under high pressure, there is a high risk of explosion with careless extraction of the unprocessed canister. Therefore, it is best for children not to put this device into hands, but to pour them a soda by themselves.

By the way, the cans for the siphon are not disposable at all. They can be given for refueling. More precisely, to change the packaging of used for new, with a surcharge, of course. Agree that it is more convenient and more economical than buying a new pack each time. And so - you collected used and exchanged them for new ones. This service is popular, and today many companies offer the exchange and refueling of used cartridges.

However, when buying and exchanging cans, it is best to take them from the same company that manufactured the siphon itself. The fact is that they do not have a single world standard, and a siphon bottle from another manufacturer may simply not approach your device. For example, it may not be suitable for length, diameter or pitch and threading. And it will not only be difficult to use, but also dangerous.
