High blood pressure in pregnancy

During pregnancy, the blood pressure in a woman is constantly changing. Therefore, when you visit an obstetrician-gynecologist, pressure measurement is mandatory. On any of its deviations can be said about the violations in the body of the future mother, which must be eliminated. After all, high blood pressure during pregnancy has a negative impact on the development of the fetus and on the well-being of the mother. Constant deviations from the norm can lead to irreversible consequences for the future child.

Everyone knows that the pressure is characterized by 2 digits, where the first digit is the systolic pressure, and the second is the dystolic pressure. If the first indicator, which should not reach the level of 140, exceeds this limit, then we are already talking about increased pressure. Often, pregnancy becomes the cause of hypertension, but there are many women who suffered such a violation even before the child was born. These cases are called chronic hypertension, they require increased attention, as well as careful care for the pregnant woman.

High blood pressure in pregnant women is a bad sign for the mother and fetus. This is explained very simply. When the pressure rises, the walls of the vessels narrow in the mother's body, and this, in turn, prevents the normal flow of oxygen and nutrients to the baby. The consequences of this can be very deplorable. Growth of the fetus slows down, it suffers from hypoxia and, as a result, vices develop and even pregnancy stops. Dangerously the raised pressure still that it can become the reason of placental abruption which is accompanied by a bleeding. And then already a large loss of blood becomes a huge risk to the life of the mother and the fetus.

There is a disease called preeclampsia. High blood pressure during pregnancy is the main symptom of this disease. Pre-eclampsia is not yet fully understood, but requires special attention. This disease can lead to a lot of trouble. The presence of this disease can be confirmed or denied by the urine test. If an increased amount of protein is found, then the diagnosis of the disease has been confirmed. Pre-eclampsia can be accompanied by swelling of the hands and feet, headache, nausea and general malaise.

If the pressure rises not regularly, but rather infrequently, without giving the mother great discomfort, then it does not require treatment. If there is a systematic high blood pressure during pregnancy, treatment should be mandatory. First of all, it will consist in maintaining a special diet. Compliance with such a diet excludes the consumption of sweet, salty, sharp, fried and fatty foods. Light physical exertion, simple exercises will be very useful for maintaining blood pressure in the norm. And, of course, regular walks in the open air will become a mandatory requirement of doctors. But such methods will be shown if high blood pressure during pregnancy does not become regular and is not very high. Otherwise, women are prescribed medications that normalize the increased blood pressure. They should be allowed for use by pregnant women. These drugs include metoprolol, nifedipine, papazole and others. Dosage should be strictly observed and take the medicine as directed by the doctor. If a set of measures to reduce the pressure does not help, the pregnant woman is prescribed treatment in the hospital. Sometimes it is necessary to be on such treatment up to sorts.

High blood pressure during pregnancy requires mandatory medical supervision. For this, regular visits to a specialist can not be neglected. Timely detected and cured disease will not endanger the life of a woman and her future baby.
