Herniated abdomen

What is a stomach hernia? It represents the emergence of the internals covered with a peritoneal membrane of the peritoneum, through the vice that is in the abdominal wall, under the skin or any other adjacent cavity.
This disease ranks first in the prevalence among all diseases requiring surgical intervention. If you believe the statistics, it turns out that the percentage of people who suffer from these or other hernias is between four and five percent of the total population of the earth. It should be noted that this disease affects mostly children and people after fifty. In this case, men are more sloping to hernia than women.
Interesting is the fact that the hernia has been known since time immemorial. From ancient texts we know that many scientists of the time tried to treat this disease. However, the problem associated with the treatment of hernia belly, it was possible to solve only with the invention of septic tanks, antiseptics and antibiotics. In the modern world, there are many surgical plastics that help to solve this problem. Each of the methods has its own specific advantages, and for this reason there is no point in comparing them.

Not every person is predisposed to such a disease as a stomach hernia. There are several factors that you should pay attention to, since it is for them that the probability of whether you are ill or not is determined:

  1. Congenital. At some people since the birth the abdominal cavity has an aperture through which the hernia of a stomach or belly leaves.
  2. In the event that any natural openings of the abdominal cavity are enlarged. These holes include: the femoral triangle, the inguinal canal, and so on.
  3. When a person grows old, his tissues lose their elasticity and become thinner. Sometimes this also occurs with congenital abnormalities associated with the development of connective tissue. The same reason can be exhaustion.
  4. Often a stomach rupture can cause injury or trauma. This happens because the damaged areas can become infected, which will cause the disease. Such wounds include postoperative scars.
  5. Hereditary factor.
  6. Features of the constitution of the body.

Also, a stomach hernia can be caused by external factors such as:

  • Physical overstrain;
  • A cough that lasts for quite some time;
  • Problems with urination and feces;
  • pregnancy;
  • Ascites;
  • Overweight.

There are many types of hernias, which are determined solely only after surgery. However, there are three most important classifications, which include any kind of hernia:

  • Full hernia. They are named in this case, if all the contents of the abdominal cavity poured out under the skin. Here it is a question of an epiploon, a loop of an intestine, etc.
  • Incomplete hernia. If the defect occurs, but the contents of the abdomen did not start to get out under the skin.
  • Slipping hernia. Such internal organs as the bladder or the cecum are very often covered with the peritoneum. In this case, the hernial sac may not form.

In addition to these common species, there are two main types: internal hernias and external ones. Often there is an umbilical hernia.

Internal hernias, as a rule, are formed as a result of the fact that organs move from one cavity to another (from the thoracic to the abdominal, for example). This happens through natural openings. This species is quite rare. He requires a very attentive attitude and a comprehensive solution.
As for external hernias, they arise because of the movement of internal organs under the skin. There are them in place: the abdomen, groin, chest, etc.

Hernia is a serious disease, so do not delay with treatment!
