Hazing in the Army

It's not a secret for anyone that the prestige of the Russian army among young people has greatly decreased. Hazing in the army has always existed, but especially began to gain momentum during perestroika.

Since April 2008, a law has been introduced that young conscripts will now serve only a year instead of two. Thus, the Russian government hopes to reduce hazing in the army to a minimum and restore the former prestige of the Russian army.

In the army, it always existed. The first mention of this appeared in 1967, when it was decided to shorten the lifespan from three years to two. It was at this time that the "grandfathers" were dissatisfied with this state of affairs, splashed out their evil on the new recruits, and those in turn, remembering how they were treated, began to treat the newcomers the same way in the last year. So the system of non-statutory relations gained momentum.
Even more everything was aggravated when it was customary to call up people with a criminal background.
These two factors and gave impetus to this hierarchy, it took increasingly more severe forms.

There are certain steps in the army hierarchy:

- before the oath is considered the lowest step. You do not have your voice, opinion, and in general you are nobody and call you either "smell" or "spirit ethereal." During this period, especially cruel jokes, deeds in relation to the draftee.
- "spirit" is the conscript after the oath and up to six months. But for the most part, there can also be a non-statutory oath on which the "old men" excel themselves in full: for example, they can force the recruit to pick up a mop and say what he is a salad and so on, depending on how much imagination is developed.
Naturally, the "spirit" must perform all the dirty work, be the object of ridicule, unloading both physical and psychological "grandfathers."
- one more step is from six months to a year, then from "spirits" they are transferred to the rank of "elephants" in a very original way: they just beat the belt with a belt six times, since they lasted six months.
The elephant either fulfills all the duties of the "spirit", or can become a personal "elephant" of one of the "grandfathers" and perform only its instructions.
- further one more step from a year to one and a half years - during this period they become "scoops" or "skulls". The name is taken because the ritual of adoption takes place by means of 12 strokes of the scoop in a soft place. This is already a privilege.
"Skull" should watch for "spirits" and "elephants", so that they do not shirk from work.
- one more step is the "grandfathers" who have power over everyone, everything is allowed to them, and then they begin, as they say, to break away from the newly arrived, although only very recently they themselves were in their shoes.
One of the main signs of "grandfathers" is a figure sewn on a figure, which can only be sewn to "spirits".
- and the last step from the beginning of the secession to the dismissal - "demobilization". The ritual of the transition from "grandfather" to "demobilization" is as follows: he is beaten with thread through blankets and pillows, and he must scream.
This whole hierarchy and the hard life of the draftee.

So, because of the shortening of the service life, the situation with hazing has only worsened, as the "grandfathers" are trying to make up for the missed year.

Naturally, these hazing rules will now change, no one knows for better or for worse, but the fact remains that hazing as it was will continue to exist. Moms and popes will continue to try to prevent the call in every way, and the conscripts will continue to try to escape from the Russian army, that is, to desert ...

Russian people tend to live by "concepts", and this is not the cruelest reality of Russian society.
