Half-fascist, half-eraser - Nasser Gamal Abdel

About him published a lot of books, and at least the same number to be published. Nasser Gamal Abdel appeared in the history of Egypt at the right time. The Arab world of the Southern continent needed a leader who could lead the struggle against the monarchy and the British colonists.

Gamal Abdel Nasser is the Hero of the Soviet Union. Thanks to his activities, Egypt had close friendly and economic ties with the USSR. And it should be noted that for a long time these relations were considered one of the most important factors of world politics.

The darling of the Arab people

In the party characteristics of the Soviet Union, it has always been written that the interests of society are more important to him than personal interests. This phrase completely reflects the character of Abdel. Nasser spent his entire life dedicated to the national liberation movement of Egypt.

In addition, he was very fond of and respected by the Arabs, because for them he became the embodiment of hope for better times. For example, in the bazaar in Libya, in virtually every shop there is a small black and white photograph of King Idris, and next to a color portrait of a larger size, where Gamal Abdel Nasser is depicted.

Biography

A revolutionary was born in Alexandria on January 15, 1918. Here he spent his childhood, but the school time passed in Cairo. When the future president of Egypt was at the age of twelve, he first became a member of the anti-British demonstration.

In 1936, he was not admitted to military school, but he successfully passed the selection to the law faculty. But the desire to become a military man was much stronger. This prompted Abdel to try strength again next year. This time, luck smiled at him, and he became a student at the Cairo Military School. A year later, Gamal and several of his classmates go to the border guard service in the McCabad Regiment.

Becoming a military man, he began to get carried away with politics and swore that he would fight the British colonialists. However, Gamal Abdel Nasser, whose political views were contradictory, could not decide what he liked. On the one hand, he liked democracy, but on the other, the dictatorship appealed. Unchanged was only a hated attitude towards the English colonialists.

In 1942, to continue military training, he was transferred to the college of the General Staff, which he graduated with honors, and then settled there as a teacher. While working and studying, Nasser gathered like-minded people and became one of the founders of the organization called "Free Officers".

Preparing for a military coup

At that time, Farouk I was in power, the members of the organization believed that he was not coping with his duties, and wanted to remove him. The July Revolution (the so-called military coup d'état) took place in 1952. The overthrown monarch went to Europe, and his son was taken by Ahmed Fuad II.

In a year, Egypt was declared a republic. The post of head of state and prime minister was taken by Nasser's best friend - Mohammed Nagib. This concludes the friendship. Nasser was against the transfer of power to civilians, and the president of Egypt did not share his opinion. As a result, Naguib delivered an ultimatum and threatened Abdel with resignation.

Soon, Gamal managed to get the right to control the army of the country, and already in 1954 Naguiba was removed and put under house arrest, and Nasser Gamal Abdel became the new president.

On the side of the fascists

It's no secret that during the Second World War the participants in the Arab liberation movement had a close relationship with the fascists. Cooperation was based on the struggle against the United States, Britain and Zionism. Nasser Gamal Abdel played an important role in this war.

During the war, he was an army officer in Egypt and had good connections with the Nazi party. In his opinion, such cooperation could bear fruit. Abdel believed that, while helping Hitler to kill Jews and wage war against the British, he would be able to count on helping to liberate the country from British rule. In 1941, an order came out, saying that one of Germany's allies is the Arab liberation movement.

Friendship with the Kremlin

In 1950, in many Arab-populated countries, revolutions began. The current situation served as a basis for their cooperation with the USSR. Political, military, economic, as well as ideological contact with the Arab countries was based on hatred of democracy and the totalitarian regime. Nasser Gamal Abdel turned into the main symbol of this cooperation, as the leadership of the USSR made a bet on his passion - politics.

In 1956, the President of Egypt wanted to nationalize the Suez Canal. Naturally, against this statement were made by the countries whose interests were affected in the first place. And only the intervention of the Soviet Union could prevent a scandal (maybe the beginning of World War III) as well, with its statement that their warships and submarines are ready for combat operations.

Hero of the Soviet Union

After that, close cooperation with the USSR began to develop at a rapid pace. The Soviet Union not only turned a blind eye to the fact that Egypt delivers military equipment to countries where Nazis from Germany and Yugoslavia are active, but also awarded Nasser the title of Hero of the USSR.

His point of view on this occasion could not help sharing the famous Russian poet V. Vysotsky:

Lose true faith -
It hurts me for our USSR:
Take the order from Nasser -
Does not fit the order of Nasser!

People who knew Abdel well said that the only passion in his life was politics, and he himself argued that it was only the strength of the stories to judge how much he brought the Arab people closer to the great day for them.
