Aset Isekeshev: short biography of one of the most successful akims of the country

At the peak of his fame today is the Kazakh politician Asset Issekeshev. The official's photo can be seen on the main pages of many printed publications of the country. And all because he is one of the brightest and successful akims of Kazakhstan. But is the politician really as good as local media describe it?

Aset Isekeshev: biography of early years and education

Aset Orentaevich was born on August 17, 1971 in Karaganda. From an early age he showed himself as a very gifted young man. At school I studied perfectly. In 1994 he graduated from the Kazakh State University. Al-Farabi. As the main discipline chose jurisprudence.

After graduation, Aset Isekeshev went to work in the prosecutor's office of Medeu district. Here he quickly gained popularity. In parallel, I studied at the Higher School of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Upon its completion, it began to make its way to the political arena of the country.

Rapid career

• 1999 - Director of the Department of Registration of Normative Legal Acts of the Ministry of Justice;
• 2000 - President of CJSC National Legal Service;
• 2002 - one of the advisers of the Minister of Budget Planning and Economics;
• 2003 - vice-minister of trade and industry of Kazakhstan;
• 2007 - Director of Marketing at Credit Swiss LLP;
• 2008 - Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• 2010 - Minister of New Technologies and Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• 2014 - Minister for Development and Investment.

Political portrait

Asset Issekeshev is a striking example of Kazakh reformers. Having a good intellect and a young grasp, he at his own risk introduces innovative projects and reforms into state policy. In particular, he developed an industrial development strategy that has been used in Kazakhstan for the past 12 years.

Also Asset Issekeshev is the author of such projects as "Cluster Initiative", "Information Technology Park" and "Regional Technoparks". Under his patronage, reforms were developed related to the development of small and medium-sized businesses, investment and industrial policy.

Thanks to such tireless work Aset Orentaevich became one of the most striking reformers of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

At the post of akim

June 21, 2016 Aset Issekeshev appointed akim of Astana (a post similar to the head of the administration or the mayor). Immediately after taking office, the policy encountered a number of problems requiring immediate intervention. For example, to deal with the consequences of floods that swept the area after a long rainy season.

It should be noted that the newly elected akim skillfully coped with the current tasks. Moreover, he was lucky enough to see the millionaire resident of Astana, who was born on the eve of the City Day. And although Asset Issekeshev has just entered his post, several decrees have already been issued from his pen aimed at improving the life of the citizens.

Criticism towards Aset Isekeshevich

Naturally, any politician faces criticism in his address. The new akim of Astana was not an exception. So, at the end of November 2016, the city was covered with heavy snowfalls, which for some time stalled the movement in it. After that, many dissatisfied responses flew towards Aset Orentayevich. All as one claimed that the head of the city had not prepared a clearing plan for the streets in advance.

In response, Isekeshev advised citizens to more competently plan their day and go to work in advance. As he said, all technics has been sent on cleaning of snow in time. However, because of too much precipitation, the cleaning speed has greatly decreased, which led to the appearance of traffic jams and congestion.
