The variety is fast-growing. Plants inoculated begin to bear fruit either on the 3rd or 4th year of life. And their fructification is profuse. The average yield is 140.5 centners per hectare.

In connection with the above-described saturated chemical composition, these fruits are good for making various jams, for preserving and preparing compotes.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of this fruit include high winter hardiness, complex resistance to various diseases, good yields, early fertility and attractive consumer qualities of fruits.

The disadvantages include the periodicity of fruiting, the large precipitation of ripening fruits and their slightly superficial coloring.

The area of cultivation

Rogneda pear is cultivated in a wide variety of climatic zones, in connection with which it is classified into several types: late, early autumn and autumn.

From their "parents" (information about them just below), she inherited good taste, unpretentiousness in care and endurance. Therefore, any gardener can safely plant this fruit. In addition to the above remarkable properties, Rogneda is frost-hardy, so it is not afraid of Russian winters.

Harvesting and storage

Featuring high fertility, a pear from one tree can yield an excellent crop (about 50 kilograms). Harvest is usually collected from the middle to the end of August. It should be noted that the fast-pear pear Rogneda, as a rule, is removed slightly immature and rises already outside the tree.

To prevent reruns and spoilage of fruits, they should be collected about 10 days before the beginning of consumer (technical) maturity - the end of August, or the first week of September. The crop thus harvested is stored for two to three weeks, and in the refrigerator - up to three months.

History of breeding

Rogneda pear was harvested by a group of breeders at the abovementioned Agrarian University named after KA Timiryazev. They tried to create such a variety of fruit, which would easily take root and abundantly fruited in the cold Russian latitudes. As a basis, the varieties Lesnaya Bela and Tema were taken.

The second is often used as an ancestor when creating new species with improved qualities. It is known for its unique properties.

In the process of creating a new variety, the following was taken into account: winter hardiness; Resistance to lack of moisture and waterlogging of the soil; Burn resistance; Productivity; Resistance to scab damage.

Another progenitor is Lesnaya Bela. This is a Belgian variety, which is dessert, with excellent fruit qualities, ripening early in autumn. Like the Theme, this species tolerates abrupt changes in negative temperatures. It is unpretentious to the conditions of growth and pleases with an excellent abundant harvest.

On the basis of such magnificent two varieties, the pear Rogneda arose.

About the title

The female name of Rogneda was worn by the princess of Polotsk, who in her time was an outstanding and rather strong personality. Most likely, therefore, this newly created, endowed with a mass of positive qualities and a hardy grade received this name.

This is one of the versions of the origin of the name of the pear. Rogneda means "born to rule, pampered by power."

Perhaps the purpose of the first idea of the breeder's group was to create an almost perfect pear variety, as seven natural scientists worked on it. This proves that high hopes were placed on this variety. It turned out, corresponding to its name, the magnificent pear Rogneda.

In conclusion, a little about the conditions of growing in gardens

In order for the pear yield to be annual, it is necessary in June to remove excess ovaries after shedding flowers and trim the tree. In general, this pear is partly self-pollinated, which depends on whether the stamens are capable of pollination. In this regard, for the full guarantee of pollination, the following varieties of pears should be planted along with it : Vidnaya, Miladia, In Memory of Anzin and Chizhovskaya. Moreover, the trees planted next to each other should also be resistant to frost and have the same flowering period as Rogneda. On the general perimeter, at least 3 types of pears must be planted, differing in maturation periods.

The pear of Rogneda is all good. Thanks to the successful work of Russian breeders, it became possible to cultivate this wonderful, pleasantly tasty southern sun fruit almost in most of the country's expanses.
