Ayurveda - what is this medical science?

Modern medicine sometimes comes to a standstill. New drugs are invented, vaccination is carried out, the methods of therapy are being improved, and some diseases are only progressing, with the appearance of hitherto unfamiliar to mankind, aggressive and unresponsive ailments. Therefore people, disbelieving, often turn to alternative methods of healing. One of them is Ayurveda. What kind of science is this, you will learn just now.

Interpretation of the word

The two Sanskrit concepts owe their name to Ayurveda. These are the words ayus and veda, which, in Russian, sounds like a "long life". Some linguists treat the phrase differently: the principle of life, the long journey, the knowledge gained. Despite the different points of view, the meaning of the concept is not distorted. Without fail, we can conclude that the principles of Ayurveda are aimed at improving human health, achieving longevity and inner harmony.

In a word, Ayurveda is the science of life. It is the basis of Vedic medicine, which, in turn, is named after the sacred Indian books - the Vedas. Ancient writings are devoted not only to the treatment of diseases, but also to politics, theology, astrology, psychology and other known sciences. The Vedas raise the problems of various spheres of human life, as well as the problems of the universe: they tell of subtle worlds, energy fields and various planets. Modern scientists are often amazed: what they are trying to invent has long been described in the Indian Vedas.

Legend of origin

As we have already seen, Ayurveda is one of the most ancient medical sciences that came to us from the mysterious and wise East. At first, its principles were transmitted verbally: from teachers to their followers. With the advent of scripture, the main theses were recorded in Sanskrit. With each new century they were supplemented: as a result, we received a profound and profound teaching - Ayurveda.

If you believe the ancient legend, this science is part of the inmost knowledge of the holy sages that possessed the sacred knowledge of the universe. It happened about 7 thousand years ago. Then Brahma shared secret accounts with Daksha, who was a demi-god, one of the creators of the world. He gave knowledge to the Ashvins - divine twins, who became great and wise healers. After a while they laid out the principles of Ayurveda to the ruler of the East Indra, who gave them to the disciples. Among the followers was Bharadwaja - one of the seven Indian sages who preserved information for the people of this country.

The birthplace of Ayurveda

It is rightly called India. In this country, the ancient sciences are honored, one of which is Ayurveda: what kind of teaching is this, the children here already know from the diapers. It is no wonder that after millennia it continues to stay at the peak of popularity. A kind of non-traditional medicine is practiced by about 350 thousand healers, they all have the status of doctors. The government supports the development of science and even opened two research centers that study Ayurveda. There are also 150 different institutions at medical colleges. They are engaged in the same noble cause.

In addition, a university was opened in Jamnagar, where graduates are trained in this area of medicine. Training lasts five and a half years on a special program. Four years and six months students study the theory, the rest of the time is devoted to practice. It takes place in local hospitals, where non-traditional medicine is actively used.

Distribution around the world

India has become the place on the planet where the Ayurveda was born and for a long time. At the same time, it did not stop her from conquering other countries. For example, the teaching in Sri Lanka and Nepal is very popular. In local pharmaceutical companies, the emphasis is on the drugs recommended by science: their wide assortment is sold in each pharmacy. Recently, the US has become interested in Oriental knowledge: the National Institute of Ayurveda Medicine was opened here. In Israel, the same is done by Ridmen College, whose graduates demonstrate good results.

Unfortunately, in the CIS countries there are no such institutions. But this does not prevent residents of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and other countries from taking an interest in Ayurveda. She is beginning to be trusted, because on her basis there were the schools of doctors of ancient China, Arabia, the Roman Empire and Greece. Even in modern Western medicine one can meet Ayurvedic ideas. It was the starting point for the development of such alternative disciplines as naturopathy, homeopathy and aromatherapy.

Philosophy

Like any other Eastern teaching, Ayurveda has its own philosophy. Is this, you ask, she not only heals the body, but also the soul? Absolutely correct. The physical state of the body is not limited to science. Its full-fledged object has long been not only herbs and the elimination with their help of symptoms of ailments, but also a philosophy that helps restore inner harmony, a natural balance of mind and feelings.

Ayurveda is based on six Vedas, all of which are oriented toward the achievement of a person full of happiness. Considering each individual as an integral part of the universe, they are trying to restore his connection with higher matter. The main wisdom of the Vedas is that they say: a harmonious combination of the soul, mind, perception and body helps for a long time to avoid death and bodily decay. According to these ideas, Ayurveda develops methods and measures for the healthy state of the body along with healing therapy that is able to heal wounds and create a balance of emotions and emotions within each of us.

Treatment

As for this important part of Ayurveda, its main motto is "Do no harm!" Therefore, doctors choose the most gentle therapy, the principles of which are as follows:

  • Compliance with a special diet.
  • Emphasis on the correct way of life and the mode of the day.
  • The intake of natural remedies, which the healer of herbs and plants itself makes for the patient. Recipes are secret. The methods of healing are transferred strictly from the teacher to his follower.
  • Conducting Pancha-karma - cleansing the body with a bath, massage, therapeutic enemas.
  • Marma procedure is a pinpoint effect on the body, helping on a thin and coarse levels to eliminate the disease.

On the basis of the foregoing, we understand how useful the Ayurveda is to the body, that this is not a method of bold intervention, but, conversely, a favorable way to create comfortable conditions for the existence of man. Science believes disease is the body's signal about the wrong way of life. Therefore, its elimination is the main condition of therapy.

Diagnostics

Ayurveda is what? Science, which is interesting not only for its methods of treatment, but also for ways to establish a correct diagnosis. Indian doctors have a lot of them, but the most basic ones are the palpation of the pulse and the examination of the tongue. The first involves touching the healer to the radial artery. With three fingers he feels for her three points. A sign of excellent health is a uniform pulse, tremors of equal strength. Five strokes should fall on one cycle of breathing. When they are the same and strong, it is a sign that all five basic hollow organs of a person (heart, lungs, stomach, liver and kidneys) work without disturbance. If one of the five beats is weak - in one organ there are problems, when there are two of them - then in two and so on.

But with the help of a raid on the language you can determine where the problem was hidden. So, the yellow film says that the digestive organs are sick, the brown one - the respiratory tract, white - the sign of the accumulation of toxins. In the diagnosis, the color of the tongue also plays a role: red indicates serious irregularities in the heart, blue in the liver and kidneys, purple indicates blood poisoning, and pale indicates anemia.

Medications

After finding out the diagnosis, the doctor prescribes a number of medications. As already mentioned, every drug he creates personally, using the substances of plant and animal origin. It also uses minerals, including precious stones, in therapy. And also metals: gold, silver, tin, mercury, lead and others. Since in its pure form most of them are toxic, all of them are amenable to special treatment. Usually, metals are boiled for a long time, along with herbal decoctions or herbal juices. This process is called shodhana - purification.

In addition, the material can be calcined. Being in this state, it is easily ground into powder. The calcified agent is added to various medicines and herbal preparations. By the way, all drugs necessarily have a pleasant taste and do not deteriorate during long-term storage. There are more than a thousand ayurvedic recipes, the components of which the medic must competently combine, based on personal experience. They serve not only for body health, but also for beauty: Ayurveda is Indian cosmetics, loved by women all over the world.

Herbal preparations

For their preparation use about 700 kinds of grasses. One of the components is the tree by him, which the Hindus call sacred. The medicines made from it help fight worms, destroy various fungal infections, bacteria, viruses in the body. Often patients are prescribed drugs from tulasi - this plant is considered the elixir of youth. It is also capable of treating headaches, stomach diseases, poisoning, malaria and many other dangerous diseases.

With regard to specific drugs, then probably the most popular of them - chavanprash, or Indian honey, named so because of its viscous composition and amazingly healing properties. To normalize the pressure, strengthen the heart muscle, restore normal metabolism, suppress the growth of cancer cells uses its ayurveda. What is this, chavanprash? This medicine, consisting of 49 natural components, which can cope with various diseases in your body. The spectrum of its action extends to any systems and organs. If you do not know what miracles ayurveda can do, that it is chavanprash, customer feedback will convince you that: Indian honey is a true panacea for all existing ailments.

Cleaning the body with diet

It plays an important role in the purification of the body. The properties of drinks and food are described in detail in Ayurvedic texts. When giving recommendations, doctors always focus on this aspect of complex therapy, since a properly formulated diet is also able to actively influence the elimination of the disease. Hindus believe that food is characterized by the presence of six flavor characteristics, each of which has its own sphere of influence. So, sweet is recommended to use to improve blood circulation, bitter causes appetite, and sour helps digestion.

Food must be fresh. The less it succumbed to heat treatment, the better. The main method should be at noon - at this time, the foods are best absorbed by the body. Enjoying a meal, you can not be distracted by reading a book, watching TV or talking to other family members. Do not also rush and overeat. Improves the process of digestion yoga, which should be dealt with every day in the morning. In a word, Ayurveda is closely connected with proper nutrition. What is this diet? It is extremely light, useful and even helps to lose weight.

Massage

It is done by a doctor using oils. Such massage is called abhyanga, and in Russian the word is translated as "smearing". The process extends to the whole body, therefore it is an integral procedure. How does Ayurveda work in this case? What is massage with oils? What is its effect? Hindus assure that it alleviates pain, reduces tumor growth, relaxes stiff muscles. Rooted in tissues and joints, toxins under the influence of skillful hands of experts are sent to the intestines, from where they later leave naturally.

Massage is also prescribed for the purpose of rejuvenating the body. The oils that are used in it actively influence the beauty of the skin. For example, almond moisturizes, coconut relieves inflammation, sesame nourishes, mango provides respiration of cells, palm eliminates peeling. In different regions, therapy has significant differences. Despite this, it always benefits your body, being an excellent addition to the entire health complex, which is called ayurveda.
