Grusha "northerner" - a variety for regions with cold winters
Recently, the summer variety of pears is gaining popularity, which was withdrawn by S.P. Yakovlev. To get it, the pear was crossed "red-cheeked" and pear "northerner". The experiments were conducted in the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Horticulture named after IV Michurin of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The new variety is most interesting for medium-belt areas, in the future the pear "red-cheeked northerner" can replace in some regions other varieties of pears. A new summer view is located in the Central Chernozem region.
Fruits are oval in shape, the surface is smooth, the value is below the average, a high level of one-dimensionality. At the time of removable maturity, they have a basic light yellow color with a brownish covering color on most of them. During storage, the main color is light yellow. The peduncle is straight, it is of medium size, not thick. The heart is average, has an elliptical shape, the chambers are open, medium. Seeds of large size, the shape of ovoid, have a brown color. The pulp of semi-oily consistency without stony cells is slightly cream colored, has an average density, juicy and not tart, with a sourish-sweet taste, the fragrance is slightly expressed.
The chemical composition of the fruit includes: sugar - 9,4%, acids titrated - 0,75%, acid ascorbic - 7,0 mg / 100 g, catechins - 46 mg / 100 g, arbutin - 3,81%, pectin substances - 0, 64%. The fruits reach maturity by mid-August, the period of use and consumption lasts up to two weeks. Terms of maturation follow the maturation of the pear fruit "quick-witted Michurinskaya" and pears "northerly red-cheeked." The taste is somewhat lost during storage. Fruits are quite transportable. Very good for processing. Due to the low degree of self-pollinating, trees need pollinators, for which the "Yakovlev memory" is best suited.
After planting, the trees reach fruiting for the fifth year. They have an annual regular fruiting character, the yield of eight-year-old trees is about 120 c / ha. Has a high winter hardiness grade pear "northerner."
The merits of the variety, in addition to high winter hardiness, include rapidity, resistance to fungal diseases and scab, an attractive type of fruit. To the disadvantage of the variety can be attributed a small fruit size.
