Syrup 'Stoptussin': instructions for use

Syrup "Stoptussin" is a phytopreparation that exerts an expectorant and anti-inflammatory effect. Influencing the mucosa of the respiratory tract, it significantly reduces the viscosity of sputum, contributing to its rapid elimination. The syrup suppresses an unproductive dry cough, and also has an antiseptic effect.

The main components of the drug are liquid thyme, thyme extract and plantain. As auxiliary substances, purified honey, sodium benzonate, purified water, propylparaben and sucrose are used.

The use of the drug is recommended for the complex treatment of chronic and acute inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by a cough, which is characterized by a weak separation of sputum: bronchitis, tracheitis, tracheobronchitis. To accept stopoutsin (the instruction is enclosed in packing) it is possible for adults and children older than one year.

Contraindications to the use of the drug are high sensitivity to the constituent components; Deficiency of an enzyme that cleaves isomaltose and sucrose; Decompensation of the heart; Intolerance to fructose; Kidney and liver diseases; Poor absorption of glucose and galactose; pregnancy; Lactation time; The age of children under 1 year.

Patients with traumas or brain diseases, as well as those suffering from alcoholism, epilepsy, should take the drug with caution, after consulting a doctor.

Take the instruction (syrup) instruction prescribes after eating: children from one year to five - 1 teaspoon (or half a spoonful) 2-3 times a day; 5-10 years - up to 2 teaspoons 3 times a day; 10-15 years - up to 3 teaspoons 3-5 times a day. Adults are recommended to drink syrup on a tablespoon from 3 to 5 times a day. The dose is determined by the patient's body weight. Drink syrup should be a sufficient amount of liquid (water, juice, tea, etc.). The interval should be at least four hours and preferably not more than six.

The average course of treatment is seven days. Longer duration of treatment and repeat courses are possible only according to the doctor's prescription.

If you follow a reasonable dose when taking the drug, it is well tolerated by both children and adults. Side-effect in some cases may be the emergence of allergic reactions, headache, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness.

It is not recommended to use stopoutsin (the instruction stipulates this) in combination with preparations containing codeine and similar antitussive agents, as this makes it difficult to cough up phlegm.

Stoptopsin (syrup), the instruction for its use contains a complete description of the drug, is an antitussive agent that has a peripheral effect. The drug does not depress the respiratory center, does not cause inhibitory effect and dependence. It is prescribed as an effective remedy for dry irritating exhausting cough of various genesis with the purpose of arresting coughing in the period before and after operations. The components that enter into it increase the secretion of the bronchial glands: after excretion of sputum, the activity of the epithelium increases, which facilitates its rapid separation and transport.

Use the instruction manual does not prohibit people, transport managers or other mechanisms, since it does not affect the reaction speed in any way . However, the use of the drug in large doses can reduce the speed of mental and motor reactions, so you need to follow instructions for its use.

During the drug should refrain from drinking alcohol. Stopoutsin is used for productive or chronic cough associated with smoking, for tuberculosis, pneumococcosis, chronic bronchitis or emphysema.

If after seven days of taking the cough does not go away or is worse, you need to consult your doctor.

The drug is available in bottles of dark glass with a volume of 100 ml. Produced in the Czech Republic. Store the instruction manual requires in a darkened place, at a temperature of no more than 25 degrees, the shelf life is not more than four years.
