Geothermal Blue Lagoon Resort, Iceland

In the northern part of the Atlantic is a small island of Iceland, which, along with the surrounding islands, constitutes a state with the same name. The climate here is quite harsh, despite this, hundreds of thousands of tourists come to Iceland every year. Here they are fascinated by the unique nature of the northern edge: unforgettable volcanic landscapes, rivers, picturesque lakes and waterfalls. On this island are sleeping, operating and so-called mud volcanoes, as well as geyser fields. Here is the famous geothermal resort of the Blue Lagoon. Iceland (see photo below) is proud of it, as there are no more places like this on the whole planet.

And it is located in the south-west of the island, on the Reykjanes peninsula, which is formed mainly from porous lava. And this lava is so loose that seawater calmly seeps through it. And in this connection deep underground reservoirs with hot geothermal water were formed. First in 1976 there was a geothermal power station. Then in the early 90s near it local residents discovered a warm blue lake in which they began to swim. Initially, they were forbidden to do this by the authorities, but after all they allowed and built a platform and locker rooms in this place. And already in 1996 appeared the SPA complex Blue Lagoon (Iceland), which already had a recreation area, a cafe and a restaurant. Still here a clinic for the treatment of skin diseases was built. And for the entertainment of the visitors the lagoon was equipped with transitions, bridges and waterfalls.

And since then the Blue Lagoon has become the main attraction of this country. Iceland is actively using this resort. And it's not just the temperature of this local water. In addition, it is also rich in quartz, mineral salts, green and blue algae, which soften and nourish the skin. And the therapeutic mud heals and cleanses. Mineral salts are soothing to the whole body, while improving it. And here all procedures are conducted in the open air, right in the lagoon with the use of cosmetics, produced on site from the materials provided by the Blue Lagoon. Thanks to these cosmetic products, Iceland also has an additional source of income. Creams and shampoos "local spills" are actively sold to tourists.

And in the SPA-center you can go through various procedures. For example, salt peeling. Natural oils and mineral salts of the Blue Lagoon are used here. And after that, the horny skin cells peel off and it becomes clean and smooth. Still here recommend after salt peeling to take a contrast shower. I use pure Icelandic water for it. This rejuvenating treatment softens the skin and stimulates blood circulation. But this is far from all the types of salt peeling that the Blue Lagoon resort offers. Iceland and Icelanders are at their best. For example, after peeling, wrapping is carried out from algae. In this case, a mask of them is applied to the body, and the person half an hour gently swaying on the surface of the water. And at this time he is doing a head and face massage . And after the wrapping, the client waits for a 50-minute total body massage.

True, this resort does not have its own hotel. But it is completely replaced by a clinic where you can rent a room by arriving in such a wonderful country as Iceland. The blue lagoon, a tour in which will pay off with a rejuvenated skin and a healthy body, will accept all comers. After all, in this clinic, which is located near the lake, there is a lobby, a gym and a restaurant - everything is like in a hotel. You can also rent bathrobes and towels here. Also, tourists who stayed at the clinic receive a bracelet with an electronic purse, which you can pay for drinks and food at the bar.
