A similar example of the gendarmerie existed in other countries of Europe, for example, in Austria, but before the Russian Empire came to another version.

Initially, the gendarmerie in Russia existed and played the role of the military police. She was subordinate to the heir, but in this format it did not last long. In the early nineteenth century, parts began to appear in the police, which controlled the army from within. In addition, the gendarmerie in the final version was very stubbornly struggling with the uprisings that the revolutionaries arranged, ensuring public order.
