Garvel Loken: the biography of the character

Fans of the Warhammer 4000 universe are familiar with this character. Garvel Loken is the hero of the book cycle "Heresy of Horus", whose plot is the prelude to the setting of table games and numerous books by Warhammer 40000.

Garvel Loken: Biography

Garvel Loken - captain of the 10th company of the Legion of Space Marines of the Moon Wolves during the Great Crusade. Showing the successes in the battle, he was promoted to the Mournival - the Council of Senior Legion officers, who served as advisors to Horus. From this time on he becomes the first witness of the events that led to the betrayal of Horus and the beginning of the Horus Heresy.

History

Fortitude and courage Captain Loken made him an officer of the Legion of the Moon Wolves. His closest friend, Captain Tarik Torgaddon, became a mentor for Loken in military life, and ultimately contributed to his appointment as a member of Mournival. Loken was promoted to Mournival after the battle for peace Sixty-three Nineteen. He was also the only member of Mournival, who had no external resemblance to Horus.

For some time Loken enjoyed a privileged position in the inner circle of Horus. He got along well with his comrades in Mournival until the uprising on Davin. However, when something mysterious began to happen around the Astartes, Loken suspected something was amiss and began an investigation. After the failed attempt to peacefully negotiate with the Interes, the Lunar Wolves were renamed the Sons of Horus, confirming Loken's fears that the former image of the Legion was now in the past.

The study of the ancient history of Terra by the order of the troubled mentor Kirill Zinderman and under the auspices of the chronicler Ignacy Karkazi led Garvel Loken to a conflict with the most powerful and influential Astartes in the 33rd expedition fleet (including Erebus, the first chaplain of the Legion of the Word Bearers, and even himself Varmaster Horus). When Horus was wounded on Davin, Loken and Torgaddon landed on the planet to try to find weapons that wounded the Warmaster. Learning that the blade was created by the metallurgists of the Kinebrakhs, they realized that the weapon was stolen from Xenobia, the capital of interest. Then the betrayal of Erebus became obvious.

In the end, Horus desired Loken's death, and Loken along with other loyalists was sent to Istvan III. When the viral bombing failed to kill all loyalists, Loken, Torgaddon and Saul Tarvitz led the survivors to perform in the final battle against the apostates. Garvel Loken fought to the last, as the faithful servant of the Emperor, refusing to give traitors all mercy. Having witnessed the death of Tariq Torgaddon, Loken was wounded by the hand of his old comrade Ezekiel Abaddon, after which he was left on a planet later subjected to orbital bombardment.

Healing

It was believed that Garvel Loken was killed at the last bombardment on Istvan III, but many months later the Astartes warriors led by Nathaniel Garro on the orders of Malcador Sigillite were sent to the planet to recruit a new warrior. Arriving on the ruined, long ago turned into a deserted cemetery planet, they did not expect to find the surviving, abandoned Astartes. Denied death, he became insane and could not remember his name. He called himself Cerberus, the only remaining Loyalist, until he met Garro and his warriors.

Having perceived the hostile hostility, the lonely Astartes summoned Garro to a duel. Unable to defeat Cerberus physically, the leader of the warriors appealed to his faith and duty, reminding him of his true nature. At the moment of enlightenment, Loken remembered everything and agreed to go with Garro's group. Before leaving Istvan, Garro confided to Loken that he was the last recruit whom the Sigillite had ordered to be found, and that they would have learned about the true purpose of the order to return to Terra.

Mission to Caleban

The first mission of Loken led him to Caliban, along with former comrade Yakton Cruz. The purpose of the mission was to ascertain the power of the First Legion and their loyalty to Primarch Lion El'Jonson. Loken allowed the Dark Angels to capture himself, expecting him to be interrogated by Luther, and he would be able to determine his loyalty. The assumptions turned out to be correct, but the mission was too complicated. With the help of Cruise, Loken got out of captivity. The mission was failed, Loken returned to the moon.

In search of shelter, Loken finds a small abandoned dome of the citadel of Somnus, where he spends all his time restoring a small garden. At the same time, he is visited by an old friend of Torgaddon. He reminds Loken of the vow that he brought in joining Mournival, even if Mournival did not already exist: to defend the Imperium of Mankind, no matter what evil threatened him, to be loyal to the commander and the primarch, and to the eternal Emperor standing above the primarchs. Torgaddon also threatened to warn that after the death of the traitors did something terrible with him, and only Loken can fix it. Loken was quickened, left the garden, and told Cruz that he was ready for the next mission.

Spirit of revenge

In his next mission Loken acted as a member of the Traveling Knights group. The mission was to kill Horus. Loken and his team were captured and appeared before Horus. After intense negotiations with Horus, Abaddon and Aximand, his former primarch gave Loken the chance to return. Despite the great temptation, Loken managed to resist, recalling the words of Euphratia Kiiler. And the battle broke out ... During the battle, Horus killed Cruz, finally breaking the last chains that connect him to his primarch. Loken vowed that he would never stop fighting Horus. Shortly thereafter, the ship of the Traveling Knights attacked the Spirit of Vengeance. The fate of Garvel Loken is unknown.
