Flemoxin for children: how to take it right?

Bacterial infections - this is a fairly common phenomenon, both among adults and among children. In some cases, the only way to quickly and effectively treat it is antibiotics. Flemoxin for children is considered a fairly effective antibacterial agent. This drug was developed on the basis of amoxicillin - a substance from the group of semisynthetic penicillins.

Flemoxin for children: composition and properties

As already mentioned, the main active substance of the drug is amoxicillin, which is an antibiotic of a wide range of effects. He quickly affects the pathogens, removes the symptoms of the disease.

After taking the drug pretty quickly and almost completely (the tablets are resistant to the effects of the acidic environment of the stomach) absorbed by the intestinal mucosa. Approximately one-fifth of amoxicillin binds to plasma proteins and penetrates all organs, tissues and foci of inflammation. The excretion of the antibiotic and its metabolites is carried out through the urethra.

Flemoxin for children: indications for use

This drug is used to treat bacterial infection and only if pathogens are sensitive to amoxicillin.

In most cases, these are diseases of the respiratory tract (tonsillitis, bronchitis, etc.), the genitourinary system, the digestive tract and skin. It is worth recalling that it is strictly forbidden to prescribe antibiotics to the child - if there are any alarming symptoms, consult a doctor.

Flemoxin for children: instructions and dosage

The manufacturer of the drug gives the following recommendations for dosage:

  • Children between the ages of one and three years should take 125 milligrams of amoxicillin three times a day (see how many milligrams of antibiotic is contained in one tablet, and divide it into appropriate parts).
  • Children from three to ten years are recommended to take two hundred and fifty milligrams three times a day.
  • Children of the age of ten can take five hundred milligrams three times a day.

The disease of mild and moderate severity is usually treated for 5-7 days. The exception is only a persistent streptococcal infection - the course of admission should last at least 10 days. Tablets must be taken within two days after all the symptoms have disappeared - this will prevent the occurrence of a recurrent infection.

The medicine can be taken regardless of the meal. The tablet can be drunk entirely and washed down with the necessary amount of liquid. If necessary, it can be dissolved in 100 ml of warm water - a sweet solution with a pleasant lemon scent (this is very convenient if a small child is sick).

Flemoxin for children: contraindications and side effects

The drug can not be used to treat a child who has developed an allergy to penicillin. Contraindications are infectious mononucleosis.

Adverse reactions do not occur often. In most cases, there is a reaction from the skin (rash, itching, redness), or on the part of the digestive system (diarrhea, nausea, itching in the anus, vomiting). Sometimes there is anemia. Children can become overly active and irritable, or, conversely, drowsy and tired.

It is worth recalling that antibiotics kill not only pathogenic, but also useful microorganisms. For a small child, this can lead to dysbiosis and impaired liver function. Therefore, ask the pediatrician about the drugs that must be taken to protect microflora and hepatocytes. As a rule, lacto- and bifidocultures, as well as homeopathic preparations for the liver, are prescribed for this purpose .
