Firefighting Trains Help In Firefighting

When passenger and freight traffic by rail reached their popularity, it became clear that it was necessary to ensure the safety of rolling stock along the whole route. Since initially the first trains worked on coal, and spent slag was thrown out of the hills on the way, this created the threat of fires in the adjacent territories. That is why in 1921, by decree of the government, fire trains were created that used steam pumps and additional technical means.

But progress does not stand still, and therefore with the development of industry began to produce more advanced fire trains using modern pumping stations for firefighting . From the scope of use, they are divided into categories:
• fire trains of the first category - high-tech compounds for special purposes. They are capable of eliminating the leakage of combustible liquid, pumping the flammable liquid, performing any fire fighting and eliminating the consequences of the accident.
• The second category is less technologically advanced, but it is sufficiently constructive to carry out the assigned tasks and eliminate the emergencies that have arisen in the event of a fire.

Each train, depending on the category, includes the following components:
• Train 1 category has special. Wagon, where the personnel, fire fighting pumping stations, auxiliary power stations, special equipment and necessary equipment are located. And as well as three or four water tanks with a total volume of 140 tons and a foaming agent with a capacity of 6 tons.
• The train of the 2nd category, in addition to the above equipment, has additional inclusions. These include a fully sealed tank, which is designed to pump highly flammable liquid when it leaks from damaged tanks or other volumes.

Also, a specially equipped covered car, in which additional technical equipment and materials are collected to ensure the uninterrupted operation of all equipment in operation.

Recently, all fire trains are equipped with the satellite navigation system "GLONASS", as well as the latest means of communication. This allows real-time monitoring of the movement of fire trains to the emergencies.

It is worth noting that the FGP VO ZHDT is constantly carrying out a set of measures to improve the technical potential of these trains. Pumping stations of fire extinguishing are constantly being modernized, which allow increasing the volume of outgoing liquid and increasing the maximum fire-fighting range. According to the director of FGP VD ZhDT VP Aksyutin, that for the last five years the technical equipment of all divisions has been brought to the established standards and is constantly maintained at the proper level.

To increase the professionalism of the staff of the service, regular exercises are conducted as close to real fires as possible. This allows you to keep a highly professional staff.

In connection with the onset of the summer period, a decision was made to put into operation an additional 20 cisterns. They entered the fire department on May 15, 2012, and will be in service until September 16, 2012. As believe in the JSC "RZD" it will cover large areas when extinguishing the emergence of foci.

As the director of the FGP of the VDT of Russia reports, only in the last month the fire departments were involved in extinguishing 3 times. Due to the high professionalism of the staff, all fires were successfully extinguished in the shortest time and did not cause much damage.
