Fan Mountains is a land of climbers

The Pamir-Alai is a mountain system located in Central Asia, in its southeastern part. The former republics of the Soviet Union - Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan - are the locations of this mountain system. On the territory of one of these countries, namely Tajikistan, there are the Fan Mountains, which are part of the Pamir-Alai mountain system.

Some data

They are located in the Zerpshansky area ("Giving gold", here and now there are many gold mines) and the Gissar range. The Fan Mountains in 2006 were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The reason is the amazing beauty of the snow-capped peaks, including seven "five-thousanders", many unique lakes and natural phenomena. These mountains are the Mecca of climbers and climbers. There are a surprising number of routes of very different complexity. In any article about them, it is noted that the mountains described by Yuri Vizbor are sung. It is in the song that he roams heartless on the plains, because the heart took the Fan Mountains from him.

Five-thousandths

The borders of this fantastic country are already mentioned above, surrounding it: from the south - Hissar, from the north - Zeravshan. The Fan-Darya River is the eastern border, from the west carries its waters Archimaydan. The pride of the area is mountains more than five kilometers in height. The highest is Chimtarga, reaching 5489 meters. Further on descending the heights are Bodhona, reaching 5132 m, the Greater and Lesser Gonz Mountains are respectively 5306 and 5031 meters high. They are followed by the peaks of Mirali (5132 m), Energia (5120), Castle (5070) and Chapdara (5050).

Natural phenomenon

Speaking about this unique mountainous country, we can not say about minerals. Here is the largest Fan-Yagnob coal deposit, which was little developed because of inaccessibility. But it is known first of all for thousands of years with its underground coal fire, described by Pliny the Elder, who lived in the first century of our era. The gold mines were mentioned above. It is an amazing mountainous country striking with its unusual beauty, rightly considered the pearl of Tajikistan. It is located just 120 kilometers from another legendary place, the city of Samarkand, where most of the tourist routes start.

God's given sights

A special place is occupied by the lakes of the Fan Mountains. They represent a placer (up to 40 pieces) of beautiful water bodies, the color of which varies from gently turquoise to emerald green and even purple. Framing them are peaks covered with snow, and the slopes of the mountains, wrapped in juniper forests. Archaeans inhabitants of these places call all kinds of coniferous trees and juniper bushes, which in these places are found in the nature of 60 species. The peculiarity of these massifs is that they are located in the Fan Mountains at an altitude of 2200-3200 meters above sea level.

Origin of Lakes

Such a cluster of completely different water bodies in a relatively small place is unique. Located at different heights, small and large, deep and small, covered with legends and hidden in inaccessible ravines, they are the main wealth of a mountainous country, whose name is the Fan Mountains. The map attached above demonstrates how two huge mountain ridges intersect fantastically, as beautiful lakes are scattered throughout the territory of the region, which were formed in moraines, which arose as a result of the centuries-old melting and slipping of glaciers, and in mountain glacial circuses. Car, or an armchair, or a circus is a natural bowl-shaped depression, located most often in the upstream part of the mountain.

Lake Tales

The vast majority of mountain reservoirs are formed as a result of landslides and stone landslides, which blocked the way to mountain rivers. Lakes, as mentioned above, dozens, among them there are very beautiful and very visited, popular. They are Kulikalon and Alaudin, Chapdara and Mutnoe, Piala and Iskanderkul (the largest in the whole of Pamir-Alai), Bolshoi Allo (or "Solitary", that in Zindon Gorge - the youngest formed in 1916) and Zierat, Chukurak and Marguzor Lakes .

Most Popular

The Fan Mountains are famous for their colorful water bodies, each of which can be spoken endlessly. Dozens of photos show how good they are. But there are special for these places water pearls, which are famous for the Fan Mountains. Alaudinsky lakes, located in the valley of the Chapdara River, are chosen by climbers. Here is the famous camp "Vertical-Alaudin", which lies on the path of several routes. This place is remarkable by the rivers flowing from the stones, and after a certain distance in them the same leaving, and a lot of lakes of very different size and color - from the largest to the size of a puddle.

The largest of all is the Great Alaudinsky Lake. The second largest - more secluded, lying somewhat away from the mountaineering trails, "Eastern". A large river flows out of Bolshoye Lake, which later splits a little and flows into the middle lake with one arm, and the other in Nizhnyaya. The water in them is all crystal clear. It should be noted that there are no fish in these lakes.

"Sports" part of the mountains

There are quite a few places in these mountains where the climber's foot has not trod. But the vast part, bounded from the west by the Marguzor lakes, from the east by the expensive Dushanbe-Samarkand, from the north by the level of the Kulikalon-Alaudinsky lakes and from the south by the legendary lake Iskanderkul, is, if one may so express it, lived and sporty. However, after the collapse of the Union, some alpine camps, such as Varzob, ceased to exist, and there is no breakthrough in attracting tourists. But the Fan Mountains are still attractive. Tours on foot and excursions are made systematically, since the climate here is warm at any time of the year.

Trampled road

Trekking, or hiking, is very popular in these places. In the broad accesses are described in detail traditional tours, which dozens. The number of people in the group, directions, equipment, the time for which this route is calculated, - everything can be determined without leaving home. And on the spot already add "unintended". As it was said above, Samarkand initially serves as a departure point. If the beginning of the route is not there, then we like to travel by local transport to the border of Tajikistan, and there, after crossing the Tajik vehicles, tourists get to the point of Pejikent with a large market oriented to the incoming conquerors of the Fan Mountains.
